An account of the first explorations and ascents of the Teton peaks. Fritiof Fryxell first visited the Tetons in 1924. In 1929, Fryxell was assigned to the ranger station at Jenny Lake. He and ranger Phil D. Smith engaged in exploratory climbing in the Tetons and established sumit registers for park records. Many of the Teton place names later adopted by the Park Service and approved by the U.S. Board of Geographic Features were named by this team.
