Guy Hewitt is a decorated undercover police officer, who after suffering the tragic death of his partner, is convicted of his partner's murder. Guy is innocent of this crime. However, his well intentioned but inexperienced attorney Gwen Aidem, loses his case and fails on appeal, sending Guy to prison. Convinced he was set up, Gwen tries to clear his name. Liliana Jacobs, a mercurial attorney and past acquaintance of Gwen, sees this as a bold career move and takes his case from under Gwen's nose. An attraction develops between Guy and Liliana making it difficult to stay on a business level.
