Claude Monet

Rate this book
Celebrated during his life and deified upon his death, Claude Monet is now a popular figure of near-mythical proportions. A child of modest beginnings, Monet became Impressionism's poster boy out of a fierce determination to succeed. Though he was competitive and ambitious, Monet was a big supporter of other artists, despite his lifelong fear of failure and economic ruin.

Find out: Why Monet wished he had been born blind. Why we are drawn to Monet. How Monet and the Impressionists were transformed from art-world bad boys into the most powerful artists of their time. Which of Monet's paintings inspired the scornful name Impressionism.

This little book really packs a punch. Monet is one of my favorite painters. This book gives a quick and concise history of his life and the emergence of the Impressionist movement. It contains most of his famous paintings and some of the lesser known ones.
