Robert Harold Schuller was an American Christian televangelist, pastor, motivational speaker, and author. He was ordained as a minister, who rocketed to stardom in 1955 preaching from the roof of a concession stand at the drive-in movie theatre, displaying a passion and a marketing towards other people. He had been incorporating elements of psychology, into each of his messages and for many in the Christian community, he was serving up a "feel-good gospel" and that the money he was spending on buildings was to be put to better use by giving it to the poor.
Of all the TV evangelists, I like Brother Schuller best. He seems to be a reasonable kind of guy. This book is a “positive attitude” kind of book, not too detailed but with some power stories about people and their success in using positive thinking. Schuller was a student of Norman Vincent Peale. I liked the book. There was one chapter on setting priorites that I liked and copied for my personal use.
This is a book of one liners about success and self-esteem "possibilities."
Some are good thoughts and others seem rather dumb. A good one is: "This is no crown without a cross. There is no success without sacrifice." (Schuller, 1997, p. 33).
