This was an amazing way to highlight many different religions and how they compare to Lutheranism. The author did a great job of staying objective and provides a nice synopsis at the wand of each chapter that highlighted the differences between that religion and Lutheranism.
A good overview of various religions and denominations. I appreciate that the author treats each one with respect. At times the theological vocabulary in the book was difficult to understand (maybe a glossary would be helpful?). As this book was published by the ELCA, each faith is compared to Lutheranism, although the aspects that are being used for comparison are not consistent throughout the book.
The book is a bit dated, using information approximately 15 years old. However, if you use the book in conjunction with doing some online research to obtain updated information, it works. The book does provide a good historical background on the different faiths, although some of the chapters are very brief and are of very limited use.
