Alvin^Schwartz Librarian Note: There is more than one author in the Goodreads database with this name.
Alvin Schwartz was the author of more than fifty books dedicated to and dealing with topics such as folklore and word play, many of which were intended for young readers. He is often confused with another Alvin_Schwartz, who wrote Superman and Batman daily comics strips and a novel titled The Blowtop.
As the title states, this book is full of tales of hidden treasure: some are true, and some are legends. I thoroughly enjoyed reading it for several reasons. First, the stories are short and concise--you could read one while waiting on hold for five minutes. Second, they were very interesting and diverse. Third, Schwartz gave out tidbits of information and fun facts that I thought were great, such as an unsolved cipher that could lead to millions of dollars of treasure that is still hidden (people have been trying to solve it for hundreds of years). A fun book to read.
