In this word-by-word application of Romans 12:1-2, James Boice offers an insightful analysis of social values and provides practical help for avoiding conformity and living a transformed life. Here is a clearly written guidebook for those who are willing to step away from the trends of mainstream culture and follow a narrow but rewarding path to transformation of mind and life.
James Montgomery Boice was a Reformed theologian, Bible teacher, and pastor of Tenth Presbyterian Church in Philadelphia from 1968 until his death in 2000. He was also president and cofounder of the Alliance of Confessing Evangelicals, the parent organization of The Bible Study Hour on which Boice was a speaker for more than thirty years.
James Boice, former pastor of Tenth Presbyterian in Philly, was a popular writer and leading reformed theologian before his unexpected death in 2000. Since his death, he has kind of falling off the radar, even though he was a very effective popularizer of reformed theology in his day. This book is no exception. It is basically an extended, non-technical commentary on Rom. 12:1-2, and while many of the illustrations are now dated, it is a persuasive argument for Christians to fight against mindlessness and think Christianly about everything.
