Good for beginners that are just getting started with dividends and perhaps a nice refresh of memory for already existing investors.

Detailed and excellent read!

This is a well written book; and a solid plan for investing. Learn how to reap those dividends, and how to select good holdings for your portfolio.

It's a fine introduction to dividend stocks, how to research them, create stock screens and read a company report. I'm a great believer in dividend stocks for income but found the book incomplete in some areas.

The book states that conventional approaches like asset allocation and modern portfolio theory are failures "because they simply do not work!" But later introduces their strategy with "tiers" of value stocks, growth stocks, cash and even non-correllated assets much like the approaches they claimed don't work (except theirs are all dividend stocks). Most of their charts and examples are from 2000 (just before the dot-com bust) to 2009 and look good for their strategy. I'd have preferred more examples like how they faired for every 10 year period against indexes and longer periods. I don't think they numerically compared a portfolio created with their criteria to other benchmarks or strategies and instead gave anecdotal stories.

There is no discussion of international stocks, dividends and how they fit, if at all, into their strategy.

The book is very focused on regular stock accounts. The tax advantages of dividends, taxed at 15% at the time, are often mentioned but they ignore tax advantaged accounts like IRAs which don't benefit from the 15% rate. A complete investment plan should also take these into account.

Once again, it's a fine introduction to dividend stocks but the reader should do additional research.

A great overview of why investing in Dividend stocks is a good long-term investing strategy. Plenty of evaluation tips and tricks.

I'm not sure if I'll get into investing myself, or leave it up to the professionals. It's clear that it takes a fair bit of work and can get on top of you if you don't do your work. The language in this book I found was not too far out of reach, but there were times that I was a little confused. However, in general it explains itself well (taking into account that I am not a financial advisor or have a strong past in Finance).

So-so. They spend a lot of pages on taxes which is of little interest to people outside the US. Their system is thorough but maybe too thorough for the average investor. It demands a lot of time to implement. Strangely they focus very little on the growth of the dividend making their system look like more of a system looking for overall good stocks rather than good dividend stocks.

A good introduction into the concepts of dividend investing. It is surprising how much of the total investor returns over the last century can be attributed to dividend payouts. This book has some solid, if basic, instructions on evaluating stock metrics for dividend paying stocks.
