I would recommend this book to all teachers to read out loud at the beginning of the year when establishing rules for the classroom and policies of the school. It talks about respect to others and to self. Very helpful book for teachers and parents!
In the white board write the following: "you _________ in the classroom, so _______.
Ask students to give you the first word in the blank (clue: it is the description of an action) Ask your students to find a word to describe the reaction that first action could cause.
It will help children to see that actions cause reactions, and that we are looking for positive reactions after every action.
This is a great book to help a teacher establish and reinforce policies in her classroom regarding respect and safety. Students should discuss and role play situations in this book. Perfect for teaching the teacher how to talk to children about expectations for classroom respect. 4 stars for being wordy.
