Looking For that City is part two of “Perdita – A Lost Child”. Part one is “The Crime”. In the Crime, the young prince is kidnapped and taken into captivity by Babur. Paul, the Field Marshall for Babur, in seeing his master’s insurrection proves his faithfulness to King Caelestis by rescuing and returning the young prince. Babur’s humiliation is complete when the king brings all his armies against him. But Babur is allowed to flee, and returns years later to take the entire kingdom of Paceland from the king of Caelestis. Paul and his wife Beatrice are living in Paceland when Babur begins influencing the people offering them unattainable promises in exchange for their loyalty to Caelestis. Some are easily convinced and others less so. These are the ones that must be forcefully brought into submission. Paul and Beatrice seeing the peacefulness of their lives destroyed leave their home to travel to the safety of the king, and Caelestis. Paul leaves first, but it soon becomes apparent that Beatrice and Consuella with the baby Johanna won’t be safe either so they flee for their lives taking refuge on a ship headed toward Traisance near Caelestis. “We Look for That City” is the beginning of the journey seeking home, hope, and safety. Their journeys mirror ours as we struggle to find peace and hope in our own lives. Aided by friends, helpful strangers, and unexpected resources of comfort and wisdom we travel with them and face unexpected difficulties in their journey towards the City of Caelestis.
