I will always be currently reading this book.
Farsi is a hard language to learn when you don't have a tutor to who you can pose questions about pronounciation, sentence structure, and inflection but this book does a fairly good job of helping you along. The author's examples of pronounciation are great.
I believe the book comes with a cassette tape or cd that helps with pronounciation but my book didn't have one. My mother has helped me a little bit with pronounciation.
This book teaches you words you might not have picked up from casual conversations with friends and family fluent in Farsi and has enough examples to make you feel a bit more comfortable in using those words. It's a great book for someone already a little familiar with Farsi. I say this because the book doesn't really talk about Persian culture. For example, I'd love it if the book covered taroff. I'm familiar with taroff from using it with family anf friends but I'd love to know more about the history of it. Nevertheless, Colloquial Persian has been extremely helpful in allowing me to better my Farsi. I find that it reads much easier than some of my other Farsi books and is encouraging in its style.
