I haven't seen Doug since I was a kid and while this was a fine story, I have no desire to revisit the franchise.

I read this one to to my younger nephew. I used to watch Doug all the time when I was a kid. He'd never even heard of the show so mostly this one just made me feel old.

It's a cute, short and easy to read book. I'm not so fond of the message that you shouldn't give a girl you like a detention slip for breaking the rules when your job is giving detention slips to people breaking the rules but what do I know?

You could do worse, when it comes to easy fiction.

I could see children getting hooked on this book series on account of how funny they are. This book is short enough to keep young readers' attention and help them practice their fluency.
