Opening Doors examines a wide range of initiatives for learning support in higher education. The book encompasses special needs and disability policy and provision, and provides case study examples based in a number of 'new' universities. The concerns of the case studies range from direct practical improvement of facilities to study skills and specific learning programmes, peer support, personal tuition and the appointment of designated staff. These initiatives are set in national and international contexts. Learning support provision is one positive response to the challenges facing higher education and all those planning and implementing quality education for the next millennium.
