The story begins with the horrific death of Pete Stanton. As a new spirit, he has the freewill choice of going into the light or staying earthbound. How can he leave Jessica, his wife whom he loves? He makes his choice. But is it the right one? From the very beginning of this novel, I was hooked. The writing is brilliant and Dan Frank (no relation) is a genius storyteller. You will meet several characters that Dan introduces throughout the story. I will say I do have a special place in my heart for Cunningham and Pinkie. The story moves at a good pace, the landscape is so vivid you can imagine you are there amongst the people, the spirits, and the action. I will admit that in the last few chapters I went back to re-read a second time – only because I really loved this part. The action is a high energy, the writing and descriptions are detailed and yet Dan’s writing allowed me, the reader, to use my imagination and put myself right in the mix of things. I felt I was right there, connected to all that was going on. This is what a Master Writer does for his readers. Brilliant writing. Thank you Dan Frank. This is truly an enjoyable novel. I’m looking forward to more from this author.

Portals

I can't think of anyone else being the narrator for this book , Otis Maher narration was spot on.

The blurb for this book does not even give it justice.

This is an amazing story. What happens when you die, told through the eyes of two spirits. Pete and Joe. Without giving too much away and I so want to.
We learn how they had to cope with the after life, after refusing to go through the portal.

The friends they make and the purpose, reason for staying.

If you believe or have a thought about something being there, this will certainly make you sit up.

Next time someone tells you that a place is haunted, think twice.

Oh yes , let's not forget the twins and the spirits they collect...

We have good and evil, friendship, love . Judgement.

I really enjoyed reading and listening to this book.

There's really only way to describe this story, and that's by relating it to stepping into the deep-end of a pool without knowing how to swim. It's thrilling. It's scary. It's raw. It's thought-provoking and empowering.

Daniel Frank draws you into the depths of self-analysis under the guise of a fast-paced plot and dynamic cast of characters, prompting a deeper understanding of what it means to be ALIVE as opposed to what it means to be LIVING.

If you're looking for a story that will stay with you forever, don't pass this up!

The book started off very interesting and enjoyable. I’m not a huge sci-fi fan and towards the end of this book, I was just reading to get through the pages to finish the book. It just got too weird for me.
