Molly Blaisdell is a dash of fun, mixed in with some smart cookie and a splash of capable. She started her first fan fiction group in junior high and never stopped writing. Today, she writes about geeky girls with lofty dreams and about the absolute craziness of falling in love.

When Molly's not writing, she curls up with a book, heads to a popcorn blockbuster, or kicks back to watch shooting stars. If she sees the moon in the daytime, she thinks she's lucky.

Molly is the mom of four and lives in College Station, Texas with her college sweetheart Tim and two cats – one evil and one good.

She's also the author 30 books for young children, including THE BIG FUZZY COAT (MeeGenius, ebook), REMBRANDT AND THE BOY WHO DREW DOGS (Barron’s), and THE TRUTH ABOUT UNICORNS (Capstone Press).

The contagious playfulness of author Molly Blaisdell brings this early geometry book to life.

Personally, I love when books are written in the second person.

No wonder I write most of my books that way. Second person allows for such immediacy, as in these Molly questions:

- What could you do if you were a quadrilateral?
- You could be a checkerboard, a kite, or a yoga mat.
- What else could you be if you were a quadrilateral?

Maybe you could win a quadrilateral art contest!

As for Author Molly, she can definitely win FIVE STARS from me. Because she has.

The book If You Were a Quadrilateral by Molly Blaisdell would be a great text to incorporate into a math lesson. The beginning of the book gives us the definition of a quadrilateral and the subsequent pages provide variations of what classifies as a quadrilateral plus a few real-life applications in fictional form.

I would compare this book to If You Give a Mouse a Cookie by Laura Joffe Numeroff. The structure or form of the book If You Were a Quadrilateral is very similar to If You Give a Mouse a Cookie. In my other comparisons, the content of the stories have been similar, but these two stories are very different in content. I could see an instructor using these to books to compare the authors’ writing styles. Both books begin each page with “If you ….”. Each page builds off of the one before it in both books, each one leading to the next. Both of these books are great examples of conditional clauses ,which would be great in a Language Arts lesson.

"Animals loving painting quadrilaterals most of all." Really? I find the facts in this book dubious, at best.
