Filled with inspiration and empowerment, a profound portrait of the extraordinary woman, and one of the nation's 30 most outstanding family lawyers, traces her entire life, detailing the many challenges and hardships she overcame to pave the way for women everywhere to gain equal access to credit and start their own business.
EVERYONE SHOULD READ THIS BOOK. This should be required reading for everyone! This lady took a strategic and savvy approach to making women, especially married women, more equal. This was my take away: Until 1967, married women in Texas could not own property - it was her husband’s property. She (any she) could not sell, buy or transfer property with out her husband’s signature and approval. She could not sign agreements. Louise Raggio set out to change all that. Louise created the first family code or was a part of the team that did. Without that things would be a complete mess - even more so than before. Louise worked for the Mr. Wade of Roe v. Wade. She practiced law before she was legally allowed to do. She married a lawyer and raised three lawyer boys! Her story needs to be taught in schools. She should be a household name. Oh, and it’s an interesting story of her entire life and I haven’t event touched in the spoilers! Loved it.
