When Aliens overtake Earth, one thirteen-year-old must fight to save the planet! Thirteen-year-old Chip is the youngest of four brothers from the Southside of Chicago, always first to get in a headlock, always last to get a slice of pizza. But that all changes the night the aliens arrive. Earth is swept into an intergalactic empire, where competitors must win for their world to survive or lose to see their planet destroyed. Now Chip is squaring off against monstrous alien opponents like only a little brother can--with pinches, bites, and devastating drop kicks. But he’ll need a lot more than his sick moves and love for pro wrestling to save Earth. Perfect for wrestling fans, lovers of space adventure, or any reader who roots for an underdog fighting impossible odds.
Pro Wrestling Saves Earth transported me back to my childhood, staging epic wrestling matches, first on my bed and then moving up to a trampoline. This would be a great read for a YA audience as well as old timers like me harkening back to those backyard matches from childhood. In addition to providing a walk down memory lane, and a fun read, this would be a great gift idea for that young reader you may be needing a holiday gift for soon. Z Jeffries takes us to epic and over the top contests far from Earth, but between the lines is a subtle sense of humanity and social justice that was nice to see in a story for young readers.
