A Knack for Trouble

Rate this book
All Cue wanted was to design tech in the basement of Seattle's Superhero headquarters and maybe watch some classic sci-fi with his new telepathic girlfriend, Cogs. Unfortunately, an old flame needs help, and he must strap on his gear and go to the rescue. This time he'll bring his neurotic robot buddy, Caan, along for backup. It would be easy if it weren't for the drunk teleporter, beast-shifters, a Vegas crime lord, and tangling with a foreign super soldier. Despite his wishes otherwise, it seems that Cue has a Knack for trouble.

light hearted adventure

Better than the first outing. There isn't much distraction due to exposition dumping, and the introduction of a sassy sentient killer robot sidekick is a welcome addition to the tale. The story unfortunately suffers from poor punctuation and grammar. This could've used some more quality control to make sure the transition to kindle books was smoother. Also the book is a bit unfocused. I was hoping for our MC to grow into his power or use his knack to offset his blaring weaknesses. However, it's just not that deep bro. It's a post apocalyptic situation in a world where everyone has powers based on their hobbies/careers/interests. it'll break with the simple thought of how there is an economy, stability, or harmony when there are people who can run 500 miles an hour, can punch through steel, and who can make people do anything with a suggestion. It'd be chaos, and the idea that anyone would be subservient when you have power to level buildings is absurd. It's still a interesting world, and worth the read if you don't think too hard.

A knack for a good story

I have been a super hero fan since I first discovered Superman on reruns in the70s. Maybe because of my age, this series has the fun with some darkness that always interests me. The rescue mission Cue and his friends embark on in this story adds depth, comedy and the improbable to a world where everyone is a super. There are not many kindle novels with super heroes that are really worth reading. This series is one of the few that make my list. Fans of Brasher and Hayes should enjoy this more light hearted heroic tale.

So many possibilities...

As much as I hate cliffhangers, this certainly makes for a good one. There is so much that can happen and I can't wait to see where the story goes from here. I don't want to give anything away but I will say this is a clever direction to go. So much potential and very exciting. Looking forward to the next read.

Simply a wonderful read!

The main character and his sidekick Caan make a great pair. The author does a great job crafted an original story line that has legs for stories to come, which makes me more than a little happy!

I hate cliffhangers

I almost gave this 2 star out of pure malice and spit because of the cliffhanger. I still might actually now that I think about it. This book ends on a massive cliffhanger which really sucks.

Decent book

The storyline is a bit predictable, but it's still an enjoyable read. I didn't realize how tired the double cross plot had become in this genre until I was pleasantly surprised to find this book didn't have one.

Another great little romp

I definitely enjoyed book two. There is a cliff hanger but the book was definitely entertaining. I enjoy the pop culture references and the nerd level of Cue and his friends.

Very good book

This is a fine urban apocalypse superhero fantasy adventure novel. It is well written and edited. The main character is unusual and funny. I especially like the robot. I anxiously await the sequel.

Short and Powerful

You ever read a story that didn't really have a lot of wasted story telling well so far this is one of the few I have ever read like this and I have read thousands of books. Great job author for weaving a story that is constantly moving along.

Read book three first

Great idea for this genre. Everyone has powers. No secret identity crap to slow down action. Cue is amazing. Read all three.
