R. Lee Walker’s book Shorty Blue, tells a cautionary tale about inheritance and never giving up on what is rightfully yours. It is full of suspense as Walker skillfully weaves the emotional aspects of greed, assumptions about family members that typically are not true, obsession, and self-esteem together as he reveals each character. I was intrigued and could not wait to find out what happened at the end.

I have lived in Los Angeles, CA for over 50 years, therefore I was familiar with the different street locations Shorty Blue frequented. It was like I was on the outer edges of the scene, watching it all happen.

The book is “colorful” and easy to read. It should help families develop a broader perspective about the family’s estate. Professionals in the real estate industry could benefit from the book as well as the general public.

Shorty Blue is an enthralling quick read. The family dynamic in this book is very real with striking imperfections like most families in reality. The main character’s mistrust of life’s happenings is relatable. I enjoyed the story telling which was to the point.

The author was transplanted from Mississippi to Los Angeles at a young age. This is a story of family betrayal, dished up due to jealousy and financial stress. It has the ring of truth.
