Aside from loving Susan for the friend and mentor she has been to me, I enjoyed this book sharing the story of her early life, relationship with Todd, and her call to Pakistan. While it wasn’t the most detailed writing, I did appreciate the style—interview and themed with “words.” It was a bit repetitive and out of chronological order at points, but Susan’s story is a great reminder that the Lord desires to use us to share the Truth in unreached places. I appreciated the inclusion of so much of Susan’s writing.

“It’s easy to forget that the trampling of the grape brings forth the wine,
and we seldom see the burdens that have made the person carry them so strong.
Father, put some pressure on me,
give me something hard to bear,
for I know that every trial you give is a blessing in your care.
So let me feel what it’s like to hit the cold, hard ground,
so that I may know the joy of rising high.”

I am so blessed by Susan Lafferty’s story and her friendship in my life.
