Unlike some other reproductions of classic texts (1) We have not used OCR(Optical Character Recognition), as this leads to bad quality books with introduced typos. (2) In books where there are images such as portraits, maps, sketches etc We have endeavoured to keep the quality of these images, so they represent accurately the original artefact. Although occasionally there may be certain imperfections with these old texts, we feel they deserve to be made available for future generations to enjoy.

Other than the annoying old method of identifying people as Mr. B----- or W----- etc. I enjoyed this book. Definitely a product of its time in references to Native American people and the treatment of animals, it provided an interesting glimpse of life in the wilds.

This is not a rating of the book but rather of this particular edition. It flips to the endpiece for a rating after literally every page! I shall find a better edition and read that.

Anyone interested in learning about the wilds of Canada in the mid-19th Century can't do better than to read this book. The volume of descriptive detail might be, perhaps, too much for some readers, but it is an honest relation of what the author experienced, according to his understanding at the time.

An interesting book.
