The book draws on extensive empirical research to explore the education and training needs and aspirations of new migrants, their skills, qualifications, and work experiences and how these relate to education, training, and employment opportunities currently on offer in the UK. The perspectives of training providers and employers on working with new migrants are also examined. The authors conclude that the government’s laissez faire approach needs to be replaced with well-targeted and resourced integration programs, and present a model for developing an effective program.
