Sue Douglas has no time for men. At least not any more men. She scored her dream job as a publicist for an up-and-coming rock band, but they're putting her through her
The bass player despises her The lead singer lusts for her The band manager dumped a career-ending secret on her The band’s record company is determined to see her fail And if she even stumbles, she could lose everything.
In the middle of it all, she meets *the* man. The one she wants in her schedule. He sees the mayhem of her life but refuses to let her go. He says he’ll only take her spare time, but there’s no time on a tour that will make or break her as a publicist.
Elaine lives in South Carolina's low country. When she isn't writing, she can be found exploring Charleston, taking in live music and searching for shark teeth on the beach with her family.
Books like this is why I take a risk in reading a new author! The Girl U Want, book 1 in the Words Fail Me series, kept me wanting to keep reading, who needs to adult anyway?
The story centers around Sue, the new promotions manager for the band Words Fail Me. I love Sue. She is a bada$$, who doesn't take crap from anyone. Not even the motley band(Chris, Daryl, Brad and Justin)that is keeping her on her toes. This author has created a strong dynamic between her and the band members, and between the band members themselves.
Along the way, Sue's life takes an unexpected turn when she meets Adam. It's a bit of a struggle for her, being so independent but she just may have met the man who is perfect for her. I absolutely love watching their relationship grow.
I can't wait to see what the next book brings....looks like one of the boys has gotten himself into to trouble!
Great debut novel! I've followed this author on her journey and looking forward to seeing more of the drama, sweetness, and snark amongst the band Words Fail Me. Also, in my next life, I want to be like Badass Sue!!! I admit the ending is a bit of a cliffy, but dang, can't wait 'til the next one is out early this year!!!
The Words Fail Me series is becoming one of my favorite to read. I yearn to read about what happens next. Each character is so well developed, I hope all of them end up with their own full length novel(s). Sue is a modern heroine juggling a demanding professional life while trying to make room for a personal one. Her people have her back no matter what. The well developed relationships are a refreshing read when so many books are still full of toxic and triggering behavior. Looking forward to every book Elaine Reed publishes.
Great Book! Well-written with a protag that I can 100% relate to. I really enjoyed the dynamics between the men and women and how that is a central part of the story. The cliff-hanger ending had me scrambling at midnight to start the second book. I was totally hooked.
