A fun introduction to the farm for youngest listeners in board book format.

The farmer welcomes the reader to the farm, then proceeds to talk about the animals and crops found on the farm: farm food stand, horses, sheep, dogs, pigs, swans and ducks, mice, wheat, straw, cows, and chickens. Each page has a cutaway in the center so readers can peek to see what is coming and poke fingers in to touch them. Additionally, the farmer asks readers to count the number of an animal on the page - from one to six.

Ware's text is just about right for this age. It is easy to skip over things for wiggly listeners and offers solid conversation starters. Illustrations by María Perera appear to be digitally created. They are bright and full of action, but show no diversity.

Originally published in Great Britain in 2020, it is now available in the United States. Great for building vocabulary about farms, making animal sounds, and counting. While not groundbreaking, it is serviceable.

For birth-Toddlers.

This board book introduces young readers to life on the farm through simple text and simply-stated snippets of information. Readers are encouraged to look for certain animals and make note of the various jobs performed on a farm to take care of the animals that live there. Readers may enjoy counting the various animals found on the farm as well as looking through the die-cuts that decrease in size over the pages from front to back and give a glimpse of the rest of the farm.

What Can You See? On the Farm: With Peek-Through Pages and Fun Facts!
by Kate Ware
Read to a second grade class with a portion of English as a second language. Its a search and find book. The kids were excited to find the animals and situations described in the text. It would help with text recognition and image clues for young readers.

Fun cut-away design of the pages works like a narrowing well to reveal hidden items on each spread. Prompting questions (i.e., can you find the five ladybugs?) encourage little eyes to linger on the details.

I read this to Julianna a few days ago and forgot to log it. Another peek through board book and fun facts in this series. She and I give it 5 stars. Book also asks questions to engage young learner to find things on the pages. Great illustrations as well.

Just like the other board books in this series, you get peek a boo pages that are fun for kids, sturdy pages and basic introductory facts about farming. Nice pick for libraries and schools.

My 23m Old picked this book up in the local
book store. She is farm obsessed so I knew this would go down a treat.

This fun little book introduces young audiences to daily life on a farm. Each page has simple to understand text with relevant information about the sighted animals. There are conversational starters such as “Can you count 5 ducklings” to help with the development of mathematics, animal names and language.

There are fun cut outs on each page that help entertain smaller children. This book is nothing groundbreaking but is very sweet visually and was thoroughly enjoyed by my farm obsessed toddler.

Rating based of mine and my daughter’s personal experience and taste. We may revisit in the future with an updated rating and review.
