A groundbreaking study of the lifelong effects of near-death experiences in the newly born, babies, toddlers, and children up to age fiveDraws on interviews with nearly 400 childhood experiencers, both fully matured and young, as well as more than 40 years of NDE research involving over 5,000 peopleReveals how those who experience a near-death state at a young age are profoundly affected for the rest of their lives, including developing psychic and intuitive abilities, “wisdom beyond their years,” and a pervasive feeling of being “homesick for heaven”Investigates the wide-awake consciousness of babies being born, womb memories, and the experience of being alive on the other side of deathIn this major study of near-death experiences with the newly born, babies, toddlers, and children up to age five, NDE expert P. M. H. Atwater reveals how those who experience a near-death state or other worlds at a very young age are profoundly affected for the rest of their lives, including developing psychic and intuitive abilities, higher intelligence and “wisdom beyond their years,” and a pervasive feeling of being “homesick for heaven.”Drawing on interviews with nearly 400 childhood experiencers, both fully matured and young, Atwater explores their accounts of what it is like to be alive on the other side of death as well as what makes them different from others, complemented by a deep analysis of statistical evidence from her more than 40 years of NDE research involving more than 5,000 people. She shows how, in contrast to adult experiencers, child and infant experiencers of near-death states cannot compare “before” with “after” as adults do, because they don’t have a “before.” The world of these “forever angels” is the life continuum, a stream of consciousness that has always existed and always will. Integrating “where they once were” with “where they now are” is a lifelong challenge. The author explores how those who have a near-death experience very early in life, or even in utero, grow up “different”--sometimes geniuses, sometimes lost, yet unusually psychic and smart, all at the same time. She reveals how these experiences and their knowledge of the afterlife affect the individual in many areas, including family life, dating, health, education, and spirituality, as well as increasing the experiencer’s potential for thoughts of suicide, out-of-body experiences, and PTSD symptoms.Examining the forever angels’ memories of the womb, birth, early childhood, and the other world, Atwater investigates the wide-awake consciousness of babies being born, the vivid recall of mature childhood near-death experiencers, and how memory of the life-continuum never fades, nor does the desire to go back.
Although there were some interesting stories in this book, I don't buy the idea that all these individuals became alienated from their families, as well as had so many psychological problems, due to having a NDE as a child. The author has also written in the past about how children have been born to guide mankind to a new type of humanity and such. I don't buy that at all, either. It's like making children wise messiah types, when they are actually just children, who won't become wise until they have lived for so long.
Hence, if you are familiar with Ms. Atwater's writings and believe what she writes, by all means read her newest book. If not, you may find this NDE book not so much about NDEs, but about those who experienced some typical type of trauma as children, which left them with emotional problems, as well as alienated from their fellow humans. At least, though, the author appears not to believe that those who think they are aliens from another planet are actually aliens from another planet.

As I remembered being born and when I was very sick seeing evil entity trying to get me where others couldn’t see. No one believed me until I met “evil entity” again at last teenage, I remember everything then realized we are the home itself. Now this book has spoken. 60 years later.
A very disjointed book written in an American/English that distracts the reader with its bizarre punctuation. The case studies are also, in most cases at least only loosely related to the chapter topics and seem dubious at most. Of all the books I've read on this and related topics this js the one I'd recommend the least.....
The Forever Angels Near-Death Experiences in Childhood and Their Lifelong Impact by P. M. H. Atwater. Inner Traditions. Bear & Company. Nonfiction (Adult), Parenting & Families. Publication date is set for 03 Sep 2019. Electronic galley. 5 Stars.
This information in this book is absolutely hands-down true. Enlightening and illuminating, this book is a landmark work, pitch-perfect in understanding the minds of young children in the wake of a near death experience (NDE) from birth to age 5 and their oftentimes challenging paths into adulthood—as they, with their unique genius, are seldom on the same page as everyone else! An NDE is a profound experience that keeps informing us throughout our lives. This book is incredible, fascinating, informative and striking in its simplicity—both for child experiencers and their parents—at whatever age they are now. To find someone who understands is priceless. Can’t recommend this book highly enough!
Thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley for providing this ebook for review.
The Forever Angels is a very interesting book. I wonder what the other thousands the author has interviewed have been like and why these were the ones picked. I tend to believe the scientific reasons of the things we are when we are dying, organ failure, and starvation of oxygen. Very entertaining book.
