Twelfth Man

It's the summer of 2011, and Colin Sweeney is in a rut. He is in a job he hates and has just split up from his long-term girlfriend. A passionate football fan, at least things are looking up on that front. His team recently won their first trophy in 35 years, and are expected to challenge for a league title.

Having thrown himself into the fortunes of his club, Colin decides to chronicle the journey of a fan during the 2011/12 season. What it means to follow your team, and the stresses and pressures of a life where your mood depends on the fortunes of others. It proves to be a journey of discovery about the longest relationship many of us will have, the irrationality of fandom and the bonds it creates.

As he begins to write down his thoughts, little does he know what lies in store, during a nine-month period that provides drama right until the very last kick of the season, and changes his life forever.
