Two-Faced: A Tale of Abduction

Alexa sat in a pool of her own blood. The deafening silence filled the room as she rubbed her hands over her injured legs. As the blood settled underneath her naked bottom, tears flowed from her eyes. She couldn’t figure out how many days she’d been there, but she knew many had passed.

Alexa is satisfied being a teacher and living her quiet life. Though her parents want her to use her master’s degree to be a principal or an administrator, Alexa loves working with the children. Her life takes a sudden change when she is abducted and raped repeatedly by an unknown assailant. As she makes a run for her escape, she is helped by a beautiful stranger, Alonzo Charmers. He’s the assistant District Attorney. Alonzo is surprised when this battered, bruised, bloody woman runs into his arms.

Nursing her back to health becomes his mission, but he has a lot on his plate. Trying to convict one of the cities wealthiest family’s son for multiple rapes and murders has taken over his life. How ironic that his case is in direct relation to the woman he just saved. As love begins to blossom between them, a stranger enters that may bring Alexis’s rape and Alonzo’s case together in a wicked web.
Family secrets and intrigue may prove that the two cases are more related than they seem.

Two Faced

This was an engaging, fast paced read with a few twists. Lightly suspenseful, but enough to keep me guessing. I only rated 4 stars because the epilogue was really succinct; it wrapped up the story but it read more like a summation, not following the story-telling mode of the rest of the book. Still, highly recommended. LaVonda is one of my favorite authors and she never disappoints.

Good storyline

This is one of the best Urban Mysteries I've ever read. Media always makes us think that this only happens to the white community. It was nice witnessing to blossoming friendship of Alonzo and Alexa. Forgiveness is definitely possible. The twists and turns of the plot had me reading and not wanting to stop. If you like mystery, this would be a great place for you to start.

Captivating

First read by the author and I was all in from the first page. This book was well written and kept my attention throughout its entirety. I loved Alonzo and Alexa both together and as individuals. I knew there was something underlying with Ebony from the start. The cases were incredibly thought provoking and the wow factor at the end was a plus. Kudos LaVonda!!!
