I got this when I was 12 and read it until it almost fell apart. I still have my copy several decades later. As an adult, I spent a considerable amount of time and money tracking down some of the books excerpted in this anthology, many of which were no longer in print and not available in the US even when they were.

Revisiting an old friend!
This was one of my favourite books, as a child & it was magical to shed the years and become that little girl longing fit a pony, once again

This! When I was eight and my family was about to embark on an adventurous move I received three books to keep me busy: this one, Little Women, and The Black Stallion. As you can probably guess, I had a bit of a thing for horses.

This is an astoundingly wonderful anthology, with excerpts from longer works as well as poems, essays on man's relationship with horses, short stories and delightful illustrations throughout.

This book contained both interesting and humourous exerpts from a wide veriety of horse books, both fact and fiction. I thought it was a really nice read even if it's a little outdated now
