Rate this book
GOTTLIEB'S FOLLY Is it necessary we live on a world unresponsive to our needs and alien to our intuition. “Gottlieb’s Folly” proposes that the universe on which we live is parallel to smaller and larger universes older universes, as some astro-physicists believe. It creation was part of a struggle between an aging weak man and his brilliant son. The old man, Gottlieb, wanted a world he could tend to assure all would be happy. Caleb, the son is an autistic genius whose only interest is how changes in weather, earthquakes, volcanoes affect life on the planet. This heartless creator has a scientific insight that enables him to actually create a world in the shack called Gottlieb's Folly. His deeply religious wife, who hates him but cannot overcome her physical desire, makes it end with a bang not a whimper. There is a novelist younger son, also the lover of his brother's wife, who writes versions of biblical stories reflecting the struggle between his father and his brother.
