Harry starts his next day at work wondering if it will be his last. This latest instalment sees our hero once again braving the streets of his hometown in search of his dream (and a few quid to pay the bills). As before, the tale is populated by assorted weirdos, and the action proceeds at a cracking pace. There is really no let up the wisecracking dialogue, and plenty to keep the reader turning the page to find out what happens next. And herein lie a couple of issues. The pacing is relentless, allowing no opportunity for the reader to take a breath, or to find out more about the bit players. They pop into the narrative fully formed with no history, and it's rather a shame, because the story could be richer if we were able to take the time to get to know them and like them (or dislike them!). However, this latest instalment is, like it's predecessor, a warm evocation of the conflict between pursuing our dreams and making ends meet. Looking forward to part 3.
