A Secret Santa Christmas

Rate this book
Christmas just isn’t Holly’s thing but will a family secret help her find the true meaning of Christmas?

Holly Ivey needs a change. After sacrificing everything for the big city office, her career is over, frozen as firmly as Antarctica. At a loss of what to do next, her father suggests she relocate to Dickens and run her grandmother’s yarn shop. But Holly doesn’t know a knitting needle from a crochet hook. How is she going to run Ivey’s Knittery? Fueled by determination and sweet memories of her grandmother, Holly accepts the challenge and moves to the quaint town, even though she feels like a fish out of water. Even worse, the holidays are huge in Dickens and, despite her festive name, Christmas just isn’t Holly’s thing.

Gabriel Reyes is the Director of the Dickens Community Center and loves working with kids and the families in town. Every year he runs a toy drive but this year more families need help. Will the town’s Secret Santa step in to fill the town’s needs, and just who is the mysterious benefactor? When Gabriel meets the town’s newest shop owner, he begins to think the lovely Holly Ivey might be the girl to capture his heart. But only if he can help her find the Christmas spirit.

Will the magic of the Christmas season melt Holly’s heart before it’s time for her to leave Dickens and Gabe behind?

You Can Go Home

Annie returns home to run her family’s ranch after the death of her grandfather. There is a lot of history at the ranch, and while most is good. It is one of the cowboys who broke her heart when they were young, whom she is not excited to see. But they are older now. Can they mend their broken hearts? Linc is now the man in charge, taking over for Annie’s grandfather the year prior.

But lousy communication and missed opportunities lead to misunderstandings, and both are guarding their hearts. Thank goodness for Mary, who has a pulse on what is going on, and helps them both to see what is needed for their future.

Thank you to the Author for the advanced copy; this is my voluntary review.

Very enjoyable and entertaining story, storyline was moving smoothly with great characters.
Love the family interaction , they make you feel secure and loved.
Annie and Linc were good together even as Annie lack a little in communication, she did have habit of not explaining herself clearly so poor Linc was guessing and that wasn’t helpful at all.
Her “adopted “ grandma knew and she was their great supporter.
Good ending with little twist that will give you misty eyes.
It was my first book from this author and I enjoy this immensely.

Teaching Holly to Love Christmas . . .

Holly Ivey acknowledges it is time for a change, so her father suggests moving to Dickens to run her grandmother’s knitting shop. Holly knows nothing about knitting, but she will do her best to make this work. She meets Gabriel Reyes, Director of the Dickens Community Center, who loves to help families. The two of them can feel the attraction. But Gabe’s generous, giving spirit and love for the town might clash with Holly who really doesn’t like Christmas and is still “recovering” from city stress. Can Gabe open her heart to love Christmas… and maybe to love him?

This is a sweet story and a perfect example of the joy of the season. Small towns especially reflect what it’s all about as people are more like family – even when they feel free to get in everyone else’s business! Grab your copy and enjoy!

I received a complimentary copy of this book from Booksprout and I am voluntarily reviewing it.

While this is a part of a series, you don't have to read the first one to fully understand and enjoy this charming story.

This is told in a dual POV format. Getting that glimpse into the main characters' thoughts really help me to better understand and connect to them. It really makes the reading experience so much more enjoyable for me.

Can two people get through the mistakes from the past to have another chance with their first love? Will Annie inherit her grandfather's ranch only to sell and stay in Boston? Can Linc convince Annie to give him another shot at their HEA?

This and more kept me at the e-reader. This sweet, clean second chance with the first love is so enchanting and well written, I felt like I was watching a Hallmark movie!

I highly recommend this to anyone who enjoys a great story.

Annie gives up her lucrative job in Boston when she inherits Grace Star Ranch from her beloved grandfather. The downside of returning home is that she will have to work with Linc who broke her heart 15 years ago.
Mixed signals about their latent feelings for one another, together with their lack of meaningful communication regarding Annie’s long-term plans with the ranch, result in ongoing disagreements and misunderstandings.
Although the eventual outcome can be predicted, various incidents, involving the lives of the ranch family, leading up to the end keep the reader fully involved.

Annie’s been given a second chance at her legacy and at love…will she grab a hold or cut and run? When Pops died, he left the ranch to Annie. While she knows she can handle the family ranch, she’s unsure about working with Linc, the man who broke her heart years ago. Linc is the manager of the ranch and does a thorough job. Annie is not sure what to do. Sizzling tension still simmers just below the surface between them. A second chance at love has Annie’s heart pounding but Linc’s feelings on whether to sell the ranch or keep it for good has her stomach in knots. A developer wants to buy the ranch. Can Annie figure out the best plan for the ranch and her heart? Can she risk heartbreak again? The heart wants what the heart wants and for Annie, her path is clear.

Stars Over Montana – Cowboys of River Junction is a second-chance western romance I couldn’t stop reading. This story is chockful of emotions, and I loved reading every page of it. I connected with Annie right away. She’s an amazing woman with incredible inner strength. She also has a vulnerable side which made her seem very relatable. I also connected with Linc. He’s a rugged hero who sacrificed his happiness for Annie’s. He still loves her, and she loves him. The love they share needs to be sorted out before they can move forward. Misunderstandings and conflict abound for this couple which makes for addictive reading. The romance is at the heart of the book and it’s what makes Stars Over Montana – Cowboys of River Junction shine. Every emotion, every kiss, and every touch is beautifully portrayed. The descriptive narration is incredible and very detailed. The ins and outs of running a ranch are intricately detailed. If you’re a romance reader, pick up Stars Over Montana – Cowboys of River Junction. If sweet western romance is your reading jam, you’ll want to read this book. I look forward to the next book in this exciting series. Highly recommend!

Holly has big shoes to fill but can she find the true meaning of Christmas? Holly Ivey leaves the big city in disgrace and relocates to a small town where her grandmother ran a knitting store before she passed away. With her grandmother gone, she convinces her father to let her run it. Sure, she knows next to nothing about knitting but she soon has help coming out of the woodwork. There’s handsome Gabriel who is the director of the community center. He’s friendly, outgoing, and kind. She’s built walls around her heart but slowly Gabe crashes through them. She didn’t think she was ready for love, but the heart wants what it wants. It’s Christmastime and with the help of Gabe and the townsfolk, she’s ready to carry on her grandmother’s tradition. She’s got the Christmas spirit flowing by helping others and it transforms her. Can Holly open her heart to love, too? Will this Christmas bring her what she wants most?

A Secret Santa Christmas is a heartfelt holiday romance that’ll fill you with the holiday spirit. I’m a big fan of this small-town series and I’ve grown attached to all of the characters. There’s nothing more special than spending the holidays in a close-knit community. I connected with Holly right away. She’s such a sweet woman who stayed true to herself. She was so relatable because she fessed up when she didn’t know something or needed help. Her connection to her grandmother and her grandmother’s secret was so touching, I got emotional. The attraction between Gabe and Holly started out as friends but soon bloomed into something more. The plot moved at a nice slow pace with a full cast of quirky characters and descriptive narration with plenty of heart. It’s not a long story but one chockful of holiday spirit. There’s a lovely giving back message which gave me all the feels. Lucinda Race’s writing keeps getting better and better. A Secret Santa Christmas is a wonderful holiday romance perfect for this time of the year. If you’re looking for a jumpstart on your holiday reading, pick this one up. Highly recommend!

This is book one in The Cowboys of River Junction series and it is Annie and Linc's story and what a great start to a new series. Annie and Linc have history that ended so badly that it left them both heartbroken. Annie left the ranch after having her heart broken by Linc but now she has to return to a place that holds so many memories both good and bad as her grandfather has died and as she is his only heir Annie will have to decide what to do next but what she doesn't know is that Linc is the manger overseeing the ranch. Linc never stopped loving Annie but he wanted so much more for her so that is why he broke of there relationship and pushed her away even though he always regretted that decision. Will Annie and Linc get a second chance of being together or will Annie well everything and walk away only time will tell what the outcome would be for them. This book was so beautiful and heartfelt and even though Linc did what he had and thought that it was the right decision I felt that he should have given Annie the choice to stay or go and I hope that they both can reconcile there differences and get the happy ending that they deserve and I look forward to reading the next book in this series.

This is a book in A Dickens Holiday Romance Series and it is Holly and Gabriel's story. When everything goes wrong for Holly in the city her father suggests that she goes to Dickens to run her grandmother's yarn shop but even though Holly knows nothing about the business she is always up for a challenge and she is determined to do well even if it is the holiday season which is something that she doesn't enjoy. Gabriel is the director of the Dickens community centre and enjoys the season and playing Secret Santa to help the family's in need but when he meets Holly who is in need of some Christmas Spirit he is determined to show her what it is all about and hopefully change her mind and convince her to take a chance on him and stay in Dickens but will his plan work or fail, well you will just have to read this book to see what the outcome will be for them. This is a beautiful and Poignant story with a touch of magic and I definitely recommend you read it and you will not be disappointed.

This is the first book in the Cowboys of River Junction series. If you've read Apple Blossoms in Montana you'll recognize the town and a few characters, but you don't have to read it to enjoy this book. Annie and Linc's story is a sweet second chance romance. It brought a smile to my face and made me want to visit River Junction. It seems like the perfect place to recharge your soul. Linc broke Annie's heart years ago for what he believed were the right reasons. She's home now but will she stay and run the ranch or sell and go back to Boston? I can't wait to read more books in this series.

This is the seventh book in the Dickens Holiday Romance series. I loved my trip to back to Dickens, its always fun when you see a previous character pop in, the holiday cheer and friendly small town vibe never fails to make me smile. No worries if you haven't read any of the other books in the series, this one can be enjoyed as a standalone. If you're looking for a heart warming holiday romance you'll love this book and the others in the series. Holly has moved to Dickens to run her grandma's yarn shop, needing a change after her career goes down in flames. Gabe is one of the first people she meets. He runs the community center and moved to Dickens a few years ago. Holly doesn't really have much experience with holidays, her family never really celebrated but her grandmas holiday secret, Gabe, and the community of Dickens teach her the true meaning of holiday spirit.

Holly has left the big city life to take over her Grammie's store and home after she passed away, luckily for her on her first day she meets Gabe and whilst both try to keep it cool they both feel a spark between them. I loved how Gabe helps Holly in subtle ways so she feels more at home in their small town as well as how you see Holly reflect on how she was living o should I say surviving in the city life where as now the stresses are gone and she feels welcome and at home.
This is a sweet read that has loveable characters, some good laughs and a bit of sadness with a setting you want to visit whether it be Christmas time or not and a story so that flows so naturally and makes you feel you are right there with them.

This was a fantastic start to this new series, you get characters you love as well as want to get to know more, then there is Grace Star Ranch which I want to go visit and the town folk you get glimpses of that are all about small town living. lol
Annie and Linc have a history that involves love and heartbreak that needs to be addressed now she is home for good, but boy oh boy these two are hopeless about communicating with each other so they keep getting the wrong end of the stick. Fortunately they have Mary their honorary Grandmother to tsk at them and help nudge them in the right direction.
I can not wait to get to know the other characters more and see what other love matches happen at Grace Star Ranch while it itself gets new life breathed into it.

Linc pushed Annie away years ago so she could live out what he thought was her dream. Maybe she would have resented him for holding her back from life off her grandfather’s ranch in a city she had come to love, but he’ll never know. When she returns to take over the ranch feelings are still there but so many miscommunications and misunderstandings are keeping them apart. I want to shake them and just say speak truthfully about what is going on and what they are feeling to each other, but that added to the drama in the story. I loved hearing about Annie expansion plans for the ranch and I’m looking forward to reading more about it in Grace Star Ranch books and the romances that result. This was a clean kisses only romance.

This was a sweet friends to lovers holiday romance. Holly took on her inheritance from her grandmother when her career was ruined by another for their own gain. She’s not sure if she can be happy living a small town life especially as the shop she now runs doesn’t have many customers. But she makes a new friend in Gabe who helps her find the perfect employee in Marge. It isn’t long before Holly and Gabe are dating, but secrets and misunderstandings affect their budding relationship. I loved what Holly’s grandmother did for those in need. But I think Holly should have confided in Gabe. I thought her parents were more concerned about money, but they had secrets of their own and play a big part in the story.

I’ve read several books by this author and this is one of my favorites. Annie and Lincoln are former sweethearts, but he breaks up with her, so she’ll leave and follow her dreams. Now, her Pops has passed away and left the ranch to her. When she returns, she knows she’ll see Linc, but she thinks she can handle it. Linc can’t wait to catch a glimpse of Annie and he’ll take any chance to work with her. This book has several amazing characters that I hope we’ll get to read about in future books. If you enjoy second chance romance, you won’t be disappointed with this book. Grab your copy and see what changes Annie wants to make at the ranch. I bet you’ll wish you had a Mary in your life.

He broke her heart years ago, sending her away "for her own good". She's come home to the ranch, after the death of her beloved grandfather. Linc and Annie both have hearts filled with grief and regret, but also uncertainty now regarding the ranch. Annie doesn't always communicate well, and both of them make assumptions about the other. Mary is the most amazing woman, a long-time friend and housekeeper to Annie's grandparents; nothing goes on at the ranch that she doesn't know about. It's a heartwarming story; I loved seeing these two find their way back after such a long time apart. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Holly comes home to Dickens to take over Ivey's Knittery after her grandmother's death. I love how welcoming everyone is to Holly; they seem genuinely happy to have her in their little town. Especially Gabe - such a nice guy, with similar values. I wasn't thrilled with Holly's parents at first, but they take ownership of their past actions and mistakes, accepting Holly's forgiveness as they move forward together to keep Operation Secret Santa alive. I caught the author's mention of her Crescent Lake Winery series. (Seriously, you should read that entire amazing series!). Stars Over Montana - My first read by this author. Although the repetition about their break up from the past got on my nerves, the story is a sweet, interesting second chance for two people that deserve each other. All the characters are interesting, especially several of the support characters. It will be interesting to read their stories. There are emotions covering loss, joy and success, but still a fun read. 4*

What a wonderful story this was. Gabe and Holly were wonderful together. I loved seeing Holly leave big city life and settle into her grandmother's business and making it her own. It was neat seeing how Holly and her parents worked things out together and then ended up working together. Loved the Secret Santa also. Heartwarming romance for the holidays

This book has all the feels to create a heartwarming Christmas romance. Holly's past lonely holidays, losing her job unjustly, and the sadness of her grandmother's death all turn around when she moves to Dickens and takes over her Grammie's knitting shop. Gabe is the community center manager who just might provide the happily ever after that Holly thought she might never find. But Grammie's secret Santa surprise steals the storyline and adds the wonderful holiday spirit that will warm your heart.
