We used the mini Rough Guide to Dublin for my wife's first visit to Dublin and my first in about 14 years, in May this year. It is small and therefore a little hard to read but absolutely packed with good useful accurate information. We used both the physical and e-book. A bargain - less than the price of a pint and a half or a cake and coffee. The information was good, both on the centre of the city and the suburbs, historical context, culture and bars / restaurants. Often we were able to compare the information (including hotel stayed in, vegetarian restaurant, pubs visited, sites) with what was written in the guide and also with local tips and advice. The local (one of my Irish cousins / one of my wife's friends living in Dublin) insider knowledge concurred with the recommendations in the guide for some of the top places that we visited. Including pubs, restaurants, smart café bars and the Chester Beatty museum for example. Top tip - we wanted to buy the three day inclusive public transport card but nowhere at the airport was open to buy them arriving at 9 o'clock at night. We got regular cards at a station instead (paying €5 for them) and topped them up which worked fine. Maybe you could buy the card online in advance but depends if you can receive it by post. PS I went to Stephen's Green to see the Royal College of Surgeons where my father studied. The Green was much more interesting and even smarter than I remembered. At the same time my wife found the nice quiet Iveagh Gardens in the Guide which I had never heard of.
