Call of the Alpha (Powder River Pack Book 2) by Brooke May is a great addition to the paranormal romance series. With werewolves and love, action and bitterness, heartache and pain, passion and more. I really enjoyed this story and love the characters that Brooke has given us. They are well developed and interesting and worm their way into your heart. There are also times where you find yourself laughing out loud.
Rylie is about to start her new job and can’t wait. Convinced by her bestie to celebrate they find themselves meeting much more than they bargained for.
Mason has one thing in his life he loves more than anything and is content with life. One night at work he finds the one thing that will make his life complete, but will she accept is true self and his son?
If you love paranormal romances then you will need to grab a copy and enjoy.

Call of the Alpha is the second book in The Powder River Pack Series by Brooke May. As expected, it is a fantastic paranormal romance, with shifters, action, drama, passion, secrets, and more.
In this book we follow Mason Fischer, who is a shifter and Alpha of the Powder River Pack. He is a single father who is about to have his world turned upside down when biologist Rylie Press moves back into town.
As with the first book, I have really enjoyed this instalment- and Ms. Mays take of the shifter/werewolf lore. I loved the first book, and am having a hard time deciding my favourite between the two- as this book is every bit as good as the first, if not better.
I am really looking forward to more of this series.

Thank you, Ms. May!

Call of the Alpha (The Powder River Pack #2)
By Brooke May
5 stars

Having read a few books by this author now I am always quite certain that I am in for a good read and Call of the Alpha was no exception! It was a fantastic read and possibly my favourite by Ms May so far! I was completely captivated by Rylie and Mason’s story from the very beginning. The chemistry between the two characters was electric and I have to say I was definitely rooting for them the whole way through! I loved Mason!! From the very beginning I was drawn to his character and the connection that the two characters had for me felt so real and genuine at all times, in my opinion they were the perfect match!
I am definitely looking forward to more to come from this series! I highly recommend it!

Call of the Alpha is one of the most refreshing shapeshifer books I've ever read in long time. Just seeing through the dad's prestective changes and how he interacts with Archer and how he portrays himself.
Rylie i love her passion for biology and ger attraction towards Mason.
Mason is a very strong and caring alpha he has so much passion for caring for himself and others. This a a great Paranormal /romance book that you don't want to miss.

Everyone loves an Alpha and when he finds his mate it makes it that much better!
Rylie was beautiful and strong with a good soul. Mason was a single dad and the Alpha of Powder River Pack. He was doing the best with what he was given, and leading his pack with high hopes of finding his eternal mate. Together their story was passion pain, and acceptance with a beautiful HEA. This was a great werewolf story and I am eager for what's next.

Rylie Press is a young woman with a promising career as a biologist who has just landed her dream job in her hometown, she has worked hard to get where she is and she isn't going to give it up for anything, or anyone. Mason Fischer is the alpha werewolf of the Powder River Pack and as such, he has a lot of responsibilities including his pack, the bar he owns and the ranch he lives on, not to mention being a single father to his son.

One night, shortly after moving home, she is dragged out by her best friend for a girl's night out, but she hasn't been out in a long time and reluctantly agrees, but little does she know that it will be a wild night. Mason is holed up in his office completing the paperwork necessary before walking out into the main bar area of his bar, but as soon as he walks out, he senses someone he has been waiting for and cannot believe it is finally happening, he has found his mate.

This is where things start to spiral into a hot and spicy mix of emotions for the both of them, and their attraction is undeniable and Rylie is soon trying to come to terms with how fast things are moving, meanwhile, Mason is doing everything he can to help her on her way to acceptance, but they both have secrets they are wary of revealing, but what will happen when Rylie becomes her own worst enemy and Mason has a choice to make, but will it be the right one?

This is another spicy romance where past and present collide and the truth will out, as secrets, revelations and emotions combine in a rollercoaster of ups and downs which you will have to roll with until you find out what happens in the end.

Call of the Alpha (Powder River Pack Book 2)
By Brooke May
5 out of 5 stars

I loved reading this book. Call of the Alpha (Powder River Pack Book 2) by Brooke May is a story that will pull you in from the beginning and doesn’t let you go until the final page. I love reading about werewolves and this book had me reading far into the night to finish. I love the characters of Rylie Press and Mason Fischer. Rylie is a woman who is intelligent, independent, and strong. She is a biologist who loves the outdoors. If only she could understand the feelings that she has when around Mason. Mason is alpha of the Powder River Pack. He is also a single dad. He knows that Rylie is his fate when he sees her in his bar. There is out of this world chemistry between Rylie and Mason. What will happen if she finds out all of Mason’s secrets? Will she be accepting and understanding about his kind? Read this book to find out. This is a story that has scenes that make the temperature in the room rise. The heat between Rylie and Mason is off the charts. I grew to care about what happens to Rylie and Mason with each chapter that I read. I wanted them to find happiness. There are other characters that I enjoyed reading about who are family and friends of Mason and Rylie. There are moments that are touching and others that will have you wondering what is going to happen next. This is a story that I would highly recommend reading.

Call of the Alpha is the second book in the Powder River Pack series, and it was such a fun, engaging read. This story has everything I love in a paranormal romance werewolves, action, emotion, heat, and heart.

Rylie is starting her dream job as a biologist and feels focused on her future, not romance. One night out with her best friend changes everything when she meets Mason, the Alpha of the Powder River Pack. Mason is strong, protective, and deeply devoted to his pack and his young son. From the moment he meets Rylie, he knows she is his mate, but winning her trust is not going to be easy.

The chemistry between Rylie and Mason is intense and believable, and I loved watching them navigate secrets, fear, and growing feelings. Mason was a standout for me as a caring Alpha and single dad, and Rylie’s independence and passion made her easy to root for.

I also enjoyed the little glimpses we got with Mason’s brother, Miles and his mate. I really hope to find out more about that duo as the series progresses.

This book pulled me in right away and kept me turning the pages. It has great banter, strong characters, and just the right mix of romance and action. A fantastic continuation of the series!

Rylie has worked her butt off to get where she is in her career. Her love of the outdoors and biology has brought her home again. Giving back to the community that surrounds her, she is determined to teach, protect and learn. She's been burned by supposed love and this time, she's focusing on what she can control

Mason is the alpha of his pack and he dedicates his life to protect them. NOt only that, but he's a single dad and lives to give his son everything he can. He may have not made the right choices before, but the moment he held his baby, he vowed to wait to make a good life for them both.

Fated mates are something Mason has always known about. Rylie has no clue about what is really going on in the world when it comes to supernaturals. They both have to figure out how to deal with their growing attraction while Mason struggles with how to tell her about who he really is. When he does, it affects more than just the two of them.

I really enjoyed this book, it had the right amount of heat, witty banter and insta love. I'm really curious to find out what happens next to the other couple! Overall, it is a fantastic read and one that had me hooked!

This is the second book in the Powder River series and introduces us to Mason and Riley's story. Mason is the alpha of the pack, and meets his mate, Riley, at the very beginning of the story. This happens right after his brother Miles meets his mate, her best friend, Alexa, as they both walk into the bar together. We also get to meet Mason's son, Archer, who he had with a woman who was not his mate but was a drug abuser. Archer's mom signed away all of her rights as soon as she was done having him, thank goodness because Mason came and picked up his son immediately and took charge of being a single dad. Archer was Mason's everything, he had no room for women in his life until he met his mate, who he hopes will love Archer just as much as he does. Riley is the perfect woman for Mason, but she doesn't know anything about the existence of werewolves, will she be able to accept him for who and what he is? I was so excited to understand what Riley's big brother's secret was, it was a great way to introduce our next set of characters for the next book in the series as well.

Mason is a single father just running his ranch and bar while waiting for his mate to come. His wolf is making him crazy wanting to find her. Rylie enters their life when she comes to town to work as a wildlife biologist studying wolves. The embers start to burn. Mason’s wolf knows she the one. Now, will Mason and Rylie accept it? They endure the adventures life throws in their way. This is such a good book. I was sucked in at the beginning by the tale of how Mason became of a father and I just couldn’t leave. I had to stay because I wanted to know what happened next. The story engages you. Well-written and well-developed characters make for a story that will keep you right there and devouring it. I can’t wait to read more. Here I come book 2. I highly recommend you push the button and buy this one.

Call of the Alpha by Brooke May is actually the second book in her Powder River Pack series. I have not had the pleasure, yet, to read book one but it didn’t throw me off one bit and I was still able to enjoy and understand this one just as if I had.

I loved how the action and adventure are complemented by the underlying romances that we get with the characters. They are all strong and fierce characters who all mesh in the perfect ways for the drama factor. I loved how this read fast and was not confusing at all even though it has paranormal aspects to it. Rylie was easy to read and I loved Mason and how he compliments all of her good and bad traits, much like we find in the real world. I will definitely be going to read book one and anxiously awaiting book three!

First book in this series was so good and I was very much looking forward to the next one! This one focuses on Rylie and Mason’s romance. Hard working and career driven Rylie is brought back to her hometown and is instantly drawn towards Mason, who is the alpha of the werewolf pack. These wolves have an intense scent of attraction when it comes to being drawn to their mate that helps balance out their aggressive nature. Being such a busy man, Mason dismisses looking for a mate but Rylie’s scent starts to quickly change things for him. As they start getting to know one another, Mason has his own dark secrets in which he contemplates revealing to Rylie or not. Seeing where this romance turns into makes this read worthwhile!

Another good read from Brooke May and the Powder River Pack Series. I enjoyed the storyline between Rylie and Mason. Loved the added twists and turns along the way, taking the reader on a fascinating journey of these two fated mates. I really loved the characters of Rylie, Mason and Archer, which made the book all the more enjoyable. If you like werewolf stories, this is another great one in the series. Ready to see which pair is up in book 3!

Mason is a werewolf and alpha in his clan. Rylie comes back home to work for the local fishing and gaming company. Her and her best friend Alexa go to a bar one night that mason actually owns. He figures out that she is his mate. A lot of things unwind in here and it was a great read.

Call of the Alpha is the second book in Brooke May’s paranormal Powder River Pack series. It was not my first encounter with the writer and even though the other book I had read by her was not a paranormal, I was not disappointed! I love paranormal genre and she is someone I will gladly go back to and as Call of the Alpha is the second book then it means I have already downloaded the first book and will spend my Saturday with digging deeper into the Powder River Pack in Wyoming! I know everyone says that you can read this story as standalone and after having finished it and having read the blurb for the first book, I completely agree THOUGH you should still go and read the first book (I know you will want after meeting Derek in the Call of the Alpha).
Call of the Alpha gives us Rylie, the biologist returning to her home town, and Mason, the alpha of the Powder River Pack and a single father to young Archer who simply steals your heart! The writer gives us heartbreak and laughter and action and passion and pain … there are some secrets that see the light of the day and then there are secrets that are still to be revealed so hopefully the writer will not make us to wait too long for Miles and Alexa’s story (fingers crossed they are next)!
Even though it is a paranormal story, we are all human deep down so there is a lot we can relate to, hope for and swear by … I believe that this story telling goes beyond the paranormal and the writer gives us the depth she has with describing relationships and deep feelings and that I fell in love with while reading the first book I ever read by her (Back in the Ring).

I'm not huge on “paranormal romances.” I've tried some here and there…..but nothing overly fantastic. I’ll be honest, Call of the Alpha totally changed my views. This book had everything. Mason is a devoted father to his son, Archer. A strong Alpha to his pack of werewolves. A badass, sexy, manly bar owner. Ummmm…..YES PLEASE! Then there is Riley. A newly graduated college student. Loves the outdoors and specifically wolves. Slightly damaged from a past relationship and family issues. Riley is strong willed, confident, and beautiful. Oh yeah…..Riley is also Mason’s fated mate. Mason is working one night at his bar, comes in contact with the beautiful Riley, and his inner wolf just knows she is the one! Attraction is instant for both Riley and Mason. As their relationship grows stronger, so does the bond they have with each other. Throughout the book, Riley and Mason’s story develops in wonderful ways. So much love, suspense, heartbreak, and family bonding in this book. It had every “feel” you would need to be satisfied. I would love to keep reading about these characters. I also enjoyed how the author weaved other characters’ stories into Mason and Riley’s. Just making you ache to pick up the next book in the series. Wonderful read. So glad I picked up this book. (Which I read in less than a day….I could not put it down!)

Call of the Alpha can be read as a standalone. It is hot and steamy, no cliffhanger (for the main characters) and has a definite HEA.

Alpha fated mates romance, with a smart FMC and swoon worthy single dad

4.5 rounded up

Book 2 in a (currently) set of 3, but each can be read as a standalone. There’s some easter eggs and hints as to what occurs in the other books but as they seem to run simultaneously in time there’s not many big spoilers if you don’t know what you’re looking for.

I absolutely love the pairing of Mason and Riley. This book also kind of gives us two books in one as we also see the fated mate pairing of Alexa and Miles occur at the same time (and do I want to read that book to know what they’re thinking and feeling!).

An insta connection is formed due to the Mason and Riley being fated mates, but the journey of them being together isn’t forced and feels organic outside of that connection. I loved that Riley is so taken with Archer, Mason’s son, and is a supportive role model right away. I also really enjoyed that Riley isn’t your average pretty FMC, she’s an outdoorsy scientist type who isn’t afraid to get her hands dirty. I found Mason’s love and devotion to his son to be swoon-worthy and made the character more well rounded than just being the pack alpha.

Also, I abhor Thea as a character and the tension she’s adding on the building relationships in the books so far, but I also want her to find her person and see her get her just deserts in having to fight for that relationship.

The second book in the Powder River Pack Series is a knock your socks off story. There seem to be stories inside of the main story and the author does a wonderful job bringing them all together.

Rylie is an outdoorsy biologist, not afraid to work and get her hands dirty. After heading back to her hometown eager for the career prospects she might find, she runs into someone that could alter the course of her entire life if she lets him of course. Who is this charmer that she can’t get out of her head? His name is Mason, and he just so happens to be the alpha of the Powder River Pack, single dad and bar owner. Mason has almost all but given up on finding his fated mate and the prospect of raising his son by himself. That is until he catches Rylie’s scent on the dance floor of his bar and is inexplicably drawn to her, but it seems he is not the only one who feels their connection. The unfortunate thing is Rylie has no idea about Mason’s kind and Mason has no idea how she’ll react when she finds out. Can Rylie open herself to the possibility of not only mated to a Werewolf but also the leader of his pack and help him lead? This book gave me all the feels and you can’t help but pull for Mason and Rylie. After all they were literally made for one another, can they get out of their own heads to find their happily ever after? If you love shifter romances, this is one series you should jump on reading!

Call of the Alpha
Powder River Pack
Book 2
By Brooke May

This is a full length must read Paranormal Romance.
Turn the first page of this book and you will not want to put it down! This is Rylie and Mason's story. Mason is a single father to a charming little boy. Archers Mother signed her rights away the day she gave birth to him, and never looked back. Therefore Mason has raised this little man all on his own. He has not dated sense he got the baby. If he were ever to find a mate, she will know that Archer will always be #1. So no dating for Mason.

Rylie is very work oriented and loves being in the woods. She loves being out in the open air, working with the wild animals. She has no interest in a relationship! It's work work work. In walks Mason and all those thoughts leave, disappear and leave her stunned. Let's not forget a wildfire.

Brooke May you may be a new author for me. This book will make you a new favorite for me. Her book holds you captive until you read the last page. Brooke May has strong characters and they are loveable as well. You can't help but fall in love with little Archer. I must say this is a rollercoaster of romance in the werewolves sort of adventure. Brooke May, I'm looking forward to reading more from you!

This story is impressive! It surpasses the first book by a lot. The author has made interesting and relatable characters. The story moves along and easily kept my interest. I loved it! I loved Rylie's job and the element of danger it brings, the protectiveness and sneakiness of Mason as well as the playfulness of the story.

The connection between Mason
and Rylie was *felt* and at times coming off the pages at me. Well done! Even the relationship between Archer and Mason was great to watch/read them together. I could really feel the vibe they were putting out!

All the characters were wonderful. The pack together at the bar was fun. The bond between brothers(Mason and Miles)or Carter and Rylie was great. The teasing and being there for each other was perfect. Archer at times seemed a bit old for his age but I guess he is future alpha so maybe that’s expected.

This is the second book in this series. I really enjoyed this one and could hardly put it down. I am glad I gave it a shot. This can be read as a stand alone. I look forward to more from this author and from this pack.

Mason is the alpha of one of the werewolf packs in Wyoming. He is also a single dad. After the disaster of a relationship that led to the birth of his son, Mason refuses to get into another one until he meets his fated mate. Mason owns a local bar with his brother, Miles.
Rylie is a recent college graduate that is returning home to Wyoming for her new job. She and her best friend, Alexa, decide to go out and celebrate at the Half Moon on their first night back in town. Alexa and Riley have both been burned in past relationships, and neither is looking for anything serious at the moment. But, you know what they say about not wanting to find love…. that’s when it finds you.
This story is mostly about Mason and Rylie and their navigation from strangers to lovers. Their relationship is not easy, and both have past baggage that holds them back. However, woven through the story, is the relationship between Miles and Alexa. I was immersed in both storylines that were happening simultaneously. I am hoping that Miles and Alexa will get their own book in the future because I have so many unanswered questions! Overall, this was a good book that I enjoyed reading.

This is the 2nd book in a great paranormal romance series. As much as I enjoyed the first book in the series, this one is even better. I loved Mason and Rylie’s story. Each book in the series can be read as a standalone but I’d advise reading the whole series, in order, to get the most out of it. I assure you, you won’t be disappointed.
One of my favourite tropes has to be single dads. In my experience of reading many, many books, single dads are usually awesome dads with fantastic relationships with their kids. I could have spent hours reading about Mason and his little boy/werewolf Archer. Archer is absolutely adorable and he totally stole my heart. The final chapter, which is told from Archer’s POV just pulls on the heartstrings. I also loved reading his growing relationship with Rylie as she and Mason progress through their relationship.
This book is quite a bit longer than the first book in the series and I’m so glad that I got more of Mason, Rylie and Archer is I was really enthralled by their story.
One thing that I really want now is Mason’s brother Miles’ story. I really need to know what’s going on with him and Alexa.
100% recommend this book.

Well I gave this author another chance and I actually really liked this one. I would actually rate it 4.5 if I could! Call of the Alpha is a story that one can relate too, well minus the werewolf part… lol
Mason and Rylie are two characters, who are wonderfully written. I enjoyed how the growth of each one of them was presented, especially Mason. Then introduce Mason’s son Archer and it brings a whole different dynamic to the relationship between the 3 characters. Archer was definitely 5 going on 25 it seemed based on how he was written. He was such a grown little dude, so mature especially when being raised his whole life by a single father. You will love these characters and you will want to know what Mason is going to do as well!
I did enjoy how it overlapped with book 1 in this series. Everything going on at the same time was definitely different. I also liked how it set up book 3. I would assume that also will have that overlapping feel to it. I might just have to check it out.

Call of the Alpha (Powder River Pack Book 2) by Brooke May - Review by Gail Guerrero

Five Stars

I’m still fanning myself. This story is hot. I’m melting with envy right now. This is my type of story. We have a boss chick that knows what she wants and goes for it. But she gets something she didn’t know she wanted. I really enjoyed Rylie's character. She was serious but could let loose when the time came. She gave everything her all and wasn’t afraid to say what she meant. The best part of this story had to be seeing Mason with his son. The bond they shared was truly beautiful. I love the instinct werewolves have that says she is the one. No doubt in their mind. To know off the jump that there is someone specially made just for you. Archer is the cutest kid and lord he is a smart one. The author really pulled me into this story. I felt like I was living life with the characters. I love a story that takes me away and puts me into some else’s world.

Call of the Alpha (The Powder River Pack Book 2) by Brooke May
4 of 5 Stars
Career driven Biologist Rylie Press returns to her hometown and meets single dad and alpha of the Powder River Pack, Mason Fischer and neither can deny their sizzling chemistry. Rylie’s scent alone is enough to convince wolf shifter Mason that she is his ‘mate’. Rylie however is unaware of Mason’s ‘kind’ and so he must convince her that it is fate that they are together.
I loved this paranormal romance featuring wolf shifters who are part of alpha Mason’s pack. The chemistry between the main characters, Rylie and Mason was steamy and instant. I liked how the author wrote the story from both characters points of view and having a detailed backstory of both of them gave real insight into the characters, both of which I loved.
I have not read book 1 in ‘The Powder River Pack’ series but this story worked well as a standalone read, but I’m keen to read book one as I enjoyed this book. A great read.

Call of the Alpha (Powder River Pack #2) by Brooke May

This isn't the first book I've read by the author. Call of the Alpha is the second book in the Powder River Pack Series. It was a fantastic read and I can't wait for the next one.

Rylie is living in her mom's house after college and goes to a new bar. She isn't there looking for love, but she finds it. Is it going to be too much? The quote I chose for Rylie is: “Because I won’t drink as much, and I’d rather hit a deer in my truck than your car. Now, where are we going?”

Mason is the co-owner of the new bar that has opened up. He's also a single father. The mother of his son signed away all her rights. Going to work was a good thing because there he finds his mate. The quote I chose for Mason is: “Unfortunately, you can’t change who her father is. She may have stood a chance if Brandon would have behaved.”

Highly recommended for Werewolf Romance lovers.

The Alpha of the Powder Pack, Mason, has resigned himself to a life of raising his son alone. That is until his wolf gets the scent of his mate in his bar, Riley. She is a biologist and has recently returned home hoping to help in the community. Mason of course knows from the first time he lays eyes on her what is happening. Riley on the other hand is not knowledgeable of supernatural beings which may or may not cause problems. The idea of being in insta love due to the Moon Goddess (or any name that the author gives to this unseen character) having chosen someone has always made me kind of skip of that part of the first meeting, but the author made this seem natural. I have really enjoyed her approach and take on this supernatural being. These stories, at least the first two, seem like they can be read as as a stand alone, but I have a feeling we will see some of these characters in future stories. Even if we don't it is worth it to read them all.
