Carolyn was one of you as a kid, with the intriguing seeds planted in her head of the shivering thrill-thoughts that came with words like spanking, or discipline. As with you, those kinds of words and thoughts connected the heated blush of her cheeks with feelings elsewhere, which got more and more interesting the older she got.

I bet you know just what I'm talking about.

Like some, she started writing down these thoughts, escaping into short stories of reluctant heroes willing to take someone they love in hand when it's for her own good... and more shadowy thoughts as her imagination matured.

And like some, she started sharing her writings in newsgroups once she gained some confidence.

There's nothing like the perfectly-turned phrase, the handful of words that can make a feeling wash over you. And if you're reading this, then you have within you some intense feelings that most of the world doesn't understand -- but Carolyn does, and she writes those passions with wondrous abandon. Her specialties are Spanking Romance and Adult Ageplay, so we've grouped the many examples of her work that way.

Spanking Romance Classics are sweeping love stories which dare (in a very un-PC way) to allow their heroine to feel the special love of a strong man who will take her in hand when it's best for her. Carolyn writes very real, rich characters and stories that aren't just excuses to jump from spanking scene to spanking scene. If the timeless tango of pursuing ardor touches you, and the head-rush of Adoring Discipline intrigues you, then you'll love Carolyn's stories!

The title is really deceiving. The book contains three stories. It takes us to the roman empire era in the 1st story and to the medieval era in the 2nd. I have no clue which era is depicted in the 3rd story !
The men in all of them are irredeemable. Women are punished frequently with a trace or no pleasure at all. The words rape and molesting are correctly used many many times in the book.
The book should have come with a warning: "This is not a romance book, it is more of a horror one where women are hideously treated without any redeeming results". I would have given the book four stars if it came with that warning because it is well written. Granted, I wouldn't have read it if that warning was attached and I don't plan to reread it again!

These are somewhat reminiscent of the old bodice rippers of my teen years except the heroine doesn't just fall in love with her captor. All three stories feature strong women who submit and endure because they would rather live than die. Each has a different resolution. My favorite of the three is how the ending of the Centurian. This one really has a HEA. Angel of Sudden Hill may not be a HEA but it doesn't seem to be so bad. The saddest ending to me was Sold!. Not only is she held against her will but she is placed there by the betrayal of the step-father that was supposed to care for her. I think it makes the story much more bitter yet Carolyn's strength of character still shines through.

I really enjoyed these short stories purely from an erotica point of view and not from any type of a plot. This is a bit rougher than one's "normal" romantic erotica so keep that in mind when you purchase. I personally liked "Angel of Sudden Hill" and "Sold!" a lot. Both of these short stories got right to the point (sex and spanking) and both of them had character's that had feelings for each other in the end. "Centurion," however, I was not a fan of at all. The male character in the first part of the story was brutal and cruel, yet I still felt as if he had some type of feeling for the heroine and she to him...

***SPOILER ALTER***

...I guess I was wrong about that because near the end a total change came and the heroine ended up with another man!

These stories depict three strong female characters who had no choice but to submit in order to live. Angel was good but definitly not your typical HEA type of story. The Centurian was brutal at times but had a good ending where the girl got a little payback. In Sold the poor girl was sold by her step father to a miner and definitly had to learn the hard way to obey or else. All three were good stories and definitly not for the faint of heart.

Good but...
Not sure where the author got the title for this one because there was nothing about love in the three stories. Each one was about an abused and raped woman. One a leader of a band of rebels, another a healer taken captive and then forced to marry her abuser, and the third a woman who was sold by her stepfather into slavery. The book is full of brutal events and treatments by the women's abuser. In the first book the villain is taken down but not in the others. This is the first group of stories by this author that have hit me the wrong way. They are written well and the women are strong characters, plus they are very short stories. I may have liked them more if the villains in books two and three had been sent to you know where and the ladies had come out better in the end. I am giving this one a four-star because of the writing. I did receive a free copy of this book from Booksprout and voluntarily chose to review it.

My favourite was definitely the first story, The Centurian. Although it had a villain, it also had a hero to be proud of. Brietta was a warrior in every way and was so brave. She was determined to resist in any way she could. Brietta was to learn what a difference a loving relationship can make. It’s always satisfying when the villain gets his comeuppance. Definitely a happy ending in this story.
The next two stories are quite short, one set in medieval times and I wasn’t sure where the last one was set, either Canada or the U.S, I thought. I would have liked to have known more about the background of the men in these stories, particularly Nicholas. He was a trapper now, but it seemed as though his family was wealthy. Overall, entertaining stories. I received a copy via Booksprout and have voluntarily reviewed it. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

If you're a long term Carolyn Faulkner fan you may have already read each of these stories individually since this is a 3 book compilation. These stories were new to me and while I enjoyed them they aren't my favourite from this author. These are very much old school stories. The males are very rough and the females very submissive. Each story is quite short, which makes it a perfect read for when you only have small bursts of time and doesn't have this authors usual care with characterisation.

This book contains three previously published books, now available in this compilation. This is classic, old school (IMO) erotic Carolyn Faulkner. Detailed, rough, hard to read and enthralling. I wouldn’t call these stories romance, but if you look closely you’ll possibly see some HFNs.
Definitely not for the faint of heart. But I bet, for those up for the challenge, you’ll find something here that will keep you clicking this author.

I loved reading this story. It is defitely not for the feint hearted as there is rape and abuse. All the characters are very well done, real and rounded. The men are mostly hard and nasty and the women spanked and abused. There are no happy endings just some acceptances. I love this author and this is not one of her sweet stories. I voluntarily read an advanced reader copy of this book and I very highly recommend it. This is a hot, spicy and erotic story.

This book is comprised of three shorter historical stories. My favorite was Centurion - I loved the surprise ending in that story. The other two, Angel of Sudden Hill and Sold, were okay stories but they didn't really grab my interest, nor did I connect with the characters. All three stories have so much brutality, with the focus mainly on the man's pleasure. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Allis good in the world when love is involved however not all of it comes easily. The storyline is interesting and entertaining throughout the pages. The characters are well developed with a great connection throughout.

Three stories in one, all start with the heroine's hands bound and all contain forced orgasms to make her submit. The ending of the stories is as different as the tone. I liked the first story best (5 stars), the second least (3 stars), and the last was okay (4 stars).
