'Driving Instructor' is a big disappointment after reading Confessions of a Window Cleaner. I was pumped to tackle all 20 books of the series in order but at #2 this one has deterred me quite a bit. The narration style is similar but the tone slightly nastier than the light-hearted original. There are several instances where very dated racial humour kills the mood. If describing night time as 'darker than the inside of a n****rs nostril' doesn't put you off there is still less than half the sex scenes of the original with various other tired sub plots eg inter-company driver school rivalries and rugby matches weighing down too much of the book. I may try some other titles later on but this one has definitely put me off for a while..

I guess you have to be a Brit in the 80's to appreciate these books.
