In a style very close to the fairy tale, in this story we go through castles and enchanted forests, winged birds that have their own intelligence and are above the capacity of human perception in relation to dangers and enchantments.

This is a tale about vices, choices, and desires.

Many times in our lives, choices generate regrets and anguish, and even if we could choose, we would do the same actions again, perhaps because of weakness, cowardice, redemption, or maybe because the desire still remains strong and powerful.

This same desire may even turn into a kind of obsession that blinds everything else, what we see and feel in life, leading us to loneliness and the hermitage.

And in that sense, it becomes easier for outsiders to realize the situation we are in, to offer help and to show us what is really happening and how deep we are in our illusions and how much time has been lost in this kind of hallucination.

But seeing everything we were subjected to does not mean a final cure. It may be a sensation of it only a few moments, because if the desire still exists strong and the temptation to offer itself in a powerful way, we can easily fall into the clutches of it again, however much in our mind we believe it is wrong or suffered.

Originale? No, non esattamente.

Translated title "Autumn Sorcery" this was a evocatively written short story by German romantic writer Joseph von Eichendorff. Little of his work seems to have been translated into English and this is a shame as his prose is a delight.
