The narrative of the story is so engaging that is difficult to stop reading it – you are just pulled into the situations and you get in a way hypnotized by advanced technologies that are allowing teleportation. Through out the book you have a feeling that you are captured somewhere in the wire as well and you just hope you will not be captured by the thieves.

Cyberman is a fiction book that I easily see being transformed into a fantastic movie and I would highly recommend it to anyone that has time and space for jumping into an exciting storyline that will not so easily leave him out of reading.

Mr Uquillas presents to us a detailed and very descriptive, solid all-round book. In so doing he paints a picture of his native Mexico that is learned and informative for those not familiar such as myself. It has a fantastic plot, and I would recommend this for anyone looking for something a little different!

book review by Jonah Meyer
US Review of Books

"A macabre sentiment was taking hold of him to leave his imprint permanently and anonymously in the life, in the body and mind of criminals."
David Connor and his fiancée Kate have just moved from Los Angeles to Mexico City. She is a successful theatre producer, while his work involves laboratory science. An event on the public transport in their new city, in which David is robbed of his cell phone—including accompanying intimate photographs of Kate, which are then broadcast via the Internet—will change his life and mission forever.

Throughout the ensuing narrative, the scientist and technology genius invents a way to “tele-transport” through space, using manipulation of the algorithms of the World Wide Web. In addition to his space-travel endeavors, David also invents a series of “payback” fake cell phones which, when stolen on the busy transport stations throughout Mexico City, leave the unsuspecting thieves with a bang of a surprise. Their fingers are blown to bits, and a permanent red-ink tattoo is encased on their body which reads “Cell Phone Thief.” The protagonist, in fact, becomes somewhat maniacal as he reaps so much addictive satisfaction and pleasure from punishing his would-be thieves with his homemade devices.

Uquillas’s novel is a fast-paced adventure, full of surprises, sci-fi overtones, action, and psychological head-on collisions. There’s also much for romance fans—sensual scenes depicted between the two main lovers, including the time they teleport to romantic Sydney, Australia. One could easily imagine this book as fodder for a future thriller movie, as it lends itself precisely to what is often successful on the big screen. Very much like a self-built superhero, over time and with technological perfections David becomes Cyberman, an alternate persona seeking revenge from street thieves. Uquillas’s enthralling narrative packs more than a punch and delivers high-end literary excitement.

Cyberman by David Uquillas is a sci-fi novel about a scientist turned into a hero.

The story starts from David and his fiancee shifting to Mexico, an unknown country for them. They didn't know that mobile theft is common here. First, Kate got her mobile stolen and then David, both of which contained private pictures of Kate that were only for David's eyes to see.

Totally devasted, David tries to get the IP address and by others means to get the location of the theif meanwhile checking and deleting the pics of Kaye that were uploaded on the Internet.

In the middle of all of this, David discovers an unusual but fanatic thing that enabled him to teletransport which eventually made him into a hero.

So, the series of events takes place and the book goes on. I liked the concept but I didn't like how it was started. I first few chapters were actually not gripping enough of me. But the book does improve later.

The writing style was quite simple which I liked but at some places I wanted to read more.

Would only recommend if you're a sci-fi lover.

I liked the simple writing style as It makes it easier for people ( especially sci-fi novices like me) to understand it. The intro about Dave’s phone getting stolen with his girlfriend’s private pictures in it is something, I think, every millennial can easily relate to 😂
From trying to find the phone, Dave makes new findings that help him teleport. And like anyone will, he becomes a super hero. Cyberman.
The series of event that followed are really interesting and will keep you turning pages 👌🏽

A new superhero is born, maybe. Dave creates a way to get revenge for the theft of his cell phone and to retrieve it. He creates many technological advances to do it. This is a fast paced book. It's exciting and fun. I can see Cyberman as a movie.
