Eunice Ingham is considered the mother of modern reflexology. Stories the Feet Can Tell (1938) and Stories the Feet Have Told (1951) are more than just a description of how reflexology works. There are foot maps sprinkled throughout the book, personal accounts of how her clients’ lives have been changed, insights into her thought process, quotes from articles at the time sharing how reflexology has helped people who were desperate and tried everything else for simple and complex medical conditions, but found no relief before the Ingham Compression Method of Reflexology. Although some things have changed and people no longer need to use painful and extreme pressure to get the same results, this is such a thorough foundation. Easy to read and follow.
This was a great introduction to the wide variety of applications for reflexology. It was also written in layman’s terms, so anyone is able to read this book and have a decent level of comprehension of the practice. My only complaint is that there isn’t a table of contents or appendix, so if you are looking for a specific treatment, you will have to spend time flipping through the book.
Ahhh the roots of reflexology. I'm considering specializing in this, so this was a must for me. Great background about how it started. Written around the 1950s, it's neat to see how many advances have been made in the world of reflexology since then.
