The Eliminator #5

The Betrayal

It's just another ordinary day for Brett Jacobs. He's spending it in the cemetery with his family like usual. But suddenly, his quiet morning is about to get thrown for a loop. Standing in the crosshairs of a sniper, Jacobs is saved from certain death by a beautiful private investigator named Abbie Johnson. As the two start getting to know each other, the coincidences and strange occurrences keep piling up, giving Jacobs room to believe that his new friend may not be what she claims she is. Is Abbie the woman Jacobs needs to finally move on and get rid of the hurt that he's been carrying? Is she really interested in helping Jacobs in his fight against the criminal element? Or is she not the person she claims to be and is waiting for the right opportunity to twist the knife in Jacobs' back?

What a great story and one of my favorites of the Eliminator saga. It had a clever plot and a carefully crafted ending that I found satisfying as the Eliminator takes on this new and more sophisticated mob leadership led by New York attorney Roger Alexander. He replaced Moulette as the Chicago mob boss that the Eliminator hunted down and destroyed his crew while Moulette is in prison.

Meanwhile, as the Eliminator became a target for a new threat, a woman enters the picture and saves his life from being assassinated. He is now on the hunt to determine who was behind it and why because he had parted ways with Alexander amicably after eliminating Moulette's crew and had not involved himself with Alexander's operations since then. Thus, he needed to solve the mystery of why someone was taking a shot at him. Did someone new come to town to take him out, were the New York crime families involved and how is this woman connected if at all?

This was an intriguing story filled with suspense, the element of surprise and sprinkled with action on top. It was a fast read for which Mike Ryan is known for. Highly recommended.

The ELIMINATOR SERIES a 5+++

I choose this score because i enjoy reading all of Mike Ryans works. Once you get into the story your hooked. Its full of realistic drama, some sad enough to bring teats to a grown man and some funny like an Eddie Murphy movie. Never a dull moment thats got you wanting more!

“The Betrayal” is a good read and I enjoyed it but it didn’t seem to hold me as much as the first four. That said it’s still worth reading and remember “reviews are subjective” and even Lee Child, David Baldacci, and Stephen King have written some 4 star reads...or worse

I do recommend this book.

Audiobook. 2.5⭐️ Overall thought this one was too obvious and Brett was too gullible.

I probably would not have read the last few Eliminator books had I not purchased the batch, as the stories seemed to be awfully similar.
