Very brief introduction to Ramana Maharishi’s elegant teachings on self realization and spiritual awakening.

The essence of Ramana’s teaching, and more broadly, the essence of the Advita Vedanta (non dual) meditation traditions (as I see it), entails being in direct contact with objectless subjectivity (or as close to that as one can be). Whereby subjectivity (awareness) is itself the object of subjective experience.

A radical and complete awareness of awareness.

What the Buddhist traditions might refer to as “bare awareness”.

From the perspective of a reductionistic cognitive science, this is not possible. Any experience a person could have of the objectless subjectivity is itself the product of a type of “spiritual” indoctrination.

Given that, the phenomenological experience of these trans-personal (or post-personal) experiences (however fictive) are powerful and transformative (to put it mildly).

I would also contend, that abiding in this post-personal awareness is the gateway to a type of radically open and attuned type of being with another, that is the real active (healing, transformative) ingredient of psychotherapy.

What Martin Buber termed the (I/THOU) as opposed to the (I/IT) relationship.

This is an unusual little audiobook, but definitely represents a truthful and highly practical perspective on Ramana’s teachings and approach. It has a particular focus on thinking and negative thinking which isn’t usually covered in books on this subject. I found it very useful and highly recommend it due to its unique nature and vibe that sets it apart from the hundreds of similar books out there related to RM or modern Advaita.

So simple however tremendously effective

This book has steps that are so simple yet very effective to understand happiness and experience it in the now. Thoroughly enjoyed this Gem laying the teachings of Ramana and interlacing it with teachings from other sources. This book makes everything so obvious.
