When a cheetah exhibit opens at the National Zoo in Washington, D.C., PRINCESS DIANA arrives to witness the event. At the grand opening, the rare cats suddenly escape, fleeing through a crowd of frightened zoogoers! DIANA quickly transforms into her secret identity, WONDER WOMAN, captures the cats and saves the day. But when the cheetahs continue their odd behavior, only one thing can explain it. The cat-like super-villain, CHEETAH, is on the loose!
Jane B. Mason grew up in a large family in northern Minnesota. She has written books for kids of all ages under many names and on many subjects, among them ghosts, Jedi, detective duos, princesses, twins, mean girls, and slam books.
Jane has lived in the midwest and on both coasts, but appears to have settled in Oakland, California, and writes almost every day at either a friend's dining room table or a little studio in her back yard, where she has a purple loveseat, a whole lotta books, and an odd selection of trinkets she has unwittingly been collecting since she was a child.
Another of the easy read DC Heroes series with Wonder Woman running around here - Wonder Woman ism on of those characters you never quite know what you will get, the more mythology one or the more American one. This one seems to be more American. Good use of word highlights and discussion questions at the end means the book can be used in a group.
Not too long ago, I read a Supergirl chapter book from this same series. I really didn't like it. However, I really want and need female superhero representation on my library's shelves so I am trying this series again but this time with Wonder Woman.
And it is worlds better. Thank goodness!
It is what you'd expect of a superhero chapter book for grades 2 and up so I won't delve too much into the storyline, but Wonder Woman proves to be smart, brave, and resourceful. Definitely getting this one for my library!
