The Fall of Eden

Rate this book
Lord of the Flies comes to Club Med in the year?s most exciting and original thriller.

Charles Spencer is a fifty-five year old college professor, going on vacation with his wife and their two almost-grown children to the sunny Caribbean isle of St. Bart?s.

But when they land, Charles and his family find only chaos. Rumors circulate of an attack on the United States. Communications are down. People are panicked beyond comprehension. It is in this madness that Charles uses his intellect and articulate nature to bring the locals and tourists together, and maintain a semblance of order and society in the face of disaster.

But humanity is not as civilized as Charles believes. Distrust, animosity, and prejudice splinter the survivors into factions who battle over supplies, technology, and control. And even as Charles confronts those who would doom them all, a greater threat is on the horizon. A threat that will force them all to fight not only for their lives?but for the future of their world.

Reads like an action movie. Very engaging. Introspection-inducing. Creative idea, being on a Caribbean island when America blows itself up as a political move. I couldn’t help but think the entire time I read it: would I survive the end of the world?

I'm a bit of a sucker for end-of-the-world, post-apocalyptic fiction, and the back-of-the-book description of this one, describing the experiences of a college professor and his family who have just flown to a Caribbean island right before there is a nuclear exchange which decimates the Northern Hemisphere, including the United States, grabbed me. (I got it at a closing Borders store and it helped that it was significantly marked down.)

Finally got around to reading it this weekend. It was a good description of life after the holocaust in what previously was as close to paradise as most of us will come. The limited resources of the island, along with the mix of locals and tourists, make for interesting challenges that the author explores in a fair amount of depth.

Not the greatest book I've ever read, but it was solid. Three stars seems so...average. Like a "C" grade in school. I would like to give it a solid B, maybe an 85%. It was good, and I enjoyed it. Very fast read for me once I got going. If one is a fan of this sort of speculative work, this wasn't a bad one.

AN INSTANT FAVORITE! THE FALL Of EDEN keeps you on the edge of yourseat from pg. 6 till the end!
It shows the determination of the human spirit as well as the lengths a parent is willing to go to when their child is at risk. A Must Read!

Probably reflects the reality of the end of the world, but it is uncomfortable reading. This book makes you ask yourself how you would behave at the end of all things?

Good plot but writing style is sophomoric. Writer has promise. Would make a good movie.
