Have you heard that dictation supercharges your word counts, but are you frustrated with it?
You're not alone. Many writers attempt dictation, only to quit because it doesn't get them the results they hear so much about. Fortunately, there is a way to do it correctly.
If you've ever worried about "sounding funny", struggled with what to say when you’re behind the mic, or gotten tired of making a kajillion spelling mistakes with Dragon, then you've come to the right place.
In this writer's guide, prolific author M.L. Ronn will teach you how to unlock the power of dictation using the methods he's used to dictate over 30 books of fiction & nonfiction.
You'll
* How to dictate (and why you should) * The tools and equipment you'll need * How to set Dragon up for success * The 3 types of dictation (the 2nd one will blow your mind) * How to dictate cleanly the first time so that you don't have to spend as much time editing * And more
This book also comes with a video companion course where you can see the author dictate sections from this very book. Watch along as you read or watch the course first and then return to the text for more nuance. (No email address required. Just click and enjoy).

In writing a tech-how-to book, timing is everything. M. L. Ronn’s discussion of speech-to-text technology in How to Dictate a Book (2021) missed its moment. Ronn recommends using Nuance Dragon software with a low-end podcast microphone. Dragon is now in its 16th edition. Had the book been published in 2016 with whatever edition was available, such software would have been state-of-the-art. But cheaper options for dictation are available, with more advances to come in the next year or two. The case for an expensive dictation software suite is ever more difficult to make—three stars.
Normally, most books on dictation is a lot of fluff, but this particular book was on the actual craft of dictation. I was surprised myself, and I am now in more control of my dictation sessions ever since I read the tips and tricks that this author has revealed. Needless to say, if you were thinking about getting this book to help you dictate or learn how to dictate, then get it. It’s worth the time and the effort to get the skill under your belt. No more scratching your head on how to enact this mode of writing.
