Bluster Blue Jay: Not MY Fault Teaches Valuable Lessons to Children. Mother Melania packs a lot of lessons and more profound messages into a short, colorful children's book. As her feathery characters adventure along on their hike--they encounter some life skills along with nature! Learning about blame and responsibility is only part of this story. Readers will also learn to recognize needs in friends--even if the friend may not be willing to admit them themselves--and will gain an understanding of patience and compassion too.

Families will Find a Lot to Discuss in this Book! This children's book is the perfect story-time or group story as it gives readers and listeners so much to discuss! Many little ones likely know someone a lot of Bluster--or may even be a lot like Bluster. This book is a perfect way for caregivers to begin conversations about personalities, responsibilities, caring for others, compassion, and friendship.

Colorful Illustrations Add to Every Page. Readers will be able to talk about emotions and how certain behaviors and attitudes make others feel. The colorful illustrations are simple but also hold deeper stories as readers take note of things like Fearless's sad or worried eyes on some pages.

Would I Recommend Bluster Blue Jay: Not MY Fault by Mother Melania? This book is a beautiful story for families with preschool and young elementary-aged readers navigating the world of friendships and personal responsibilities. The story is easy to read and easy to understand with lovable characters and some big messages and lessons. If you enjoy stories that offer positive life lessons, I recommend this book, and I am also looking forward to adding more books from the series to our family bookshelf.

I received a copy of this book from the author or publisher for use in a blog review. All opinions are my own.

Mother Melania has written a series of books with animals as the characters. In Bluster Blue Jay, readers will learn about accepting responsibility for their actions. Bluster goes for a hike with two of his friends - he is never willing to accept wrongdoing. Mother Melania seems to capture the personality of a know-it-all quite well. Everything that goes wrong, Bluster replies with “it’s not my fault.” Mother Melania subtly teaches a lesson to children through the text of the story.
Cayce-Marie Halsell’s illustrations are colorful and the animals are accurately portrayed. Children will be able to visualize the characters in the story even if they are not familiar with the type of bird portrayed.
One of the things I like about this series is that the books include a link to coloring pages and worksheets for the books. These worksheets can increase the usefulness of these books in a classroom situation.
Bluster Blue Jay: Not MY Fault! would be a good addition to a K-12 Christian school picture book collection.
I received a complimentary copy of Bluster Blue Jay: Not MY Fault! This is my honest review.

The familiar Fearless the Fire Duck returns in Bluster Blue Jay: It’s Not My Fault! Greedy the Crow is now known as Grateful because he learned about love and sharing from Charity the Church Mouse.

While hiking on their camping trip, Fearless and Grateful come upon Bluster the Blue Jay, who was lost but refused to admit it. He makes up an excuse, blaming his faulty compass. He doesn’t thank Fearless and Grateful when they offer to help him on his way, and only complains when they give him food. Will Bluster ever admit he’s lost? And will he ever appreciate his friends?

This is a cute story revealing the importance of gratefulness and admitting when we’re wrong. The book includes a link for free coloring pages & worksheets to download.

Bluster Blue Jay: Not My Fault! - Teaching Values to Children in a Fun Way by Mother Melania Salem was a great kids' book. I loved the cute pictures and the way the author made the story both interesting to kids and educational. It did a good job on teaching kids the need for patience and for accepting blame for ones own actions.
