Praise for CB Samet on Romancing the Spirit Series Volume 1: " … women engagingly contend with otherwordly entities and real-world danger, while also grappling with that most mysterious the human heart. Samet's prose vacillates skillfully between various registers, expressing sensuality, suspense, and humor, as needed…. A collection of well-executed … tales of love and ghosts ." —Kirkus Review " Heartwarming stand alone novellas, each with their own supernatural twist. From Egypt to a small town, old love rekindled to new loves and loves that last the centuries. Each book perfect to cuddle up with on a chilly day and escape into romance that never dies." —Author HM Gooden
I enjoy writing and reading action/adventure, thrillers, romantic suspense, and fantasy.
I grew up reading Tom Clancy, Michael Crichton, and the Bourne books. I write seeking to create that level of action and intrigue but with female heroines. The love the quote, ‘She needed a hero. So she became one.’ My novels have empowered women overcoming powerful obstacles and the strong men who support them.
Thanks to a free copy of this collection of stories via Voracious Readers Only, I enjoyed a few evenings of reading. Spirits being helpful is a wonderful idea! And the ones in this series are believable and full of “life”.
Sabrina’s Storm - Taken away and into Sabrina’s world, this story gave me goosebumps and a tear or two. The premise of malevolent ghosts is appealing and portrayed realistically, but with he added romantic feature this tale was a hopeful and joyous read.
Jenny’s Justice- Enemies to lovers. Well maybe not enemies but definitely competitors, and maybe not lovers but you can see the HEA in their future. I love this story for its characters as well as its suspense. Jenny is an idealistic young assistant district attorney who in her own words has got wisdom, justice, courage, and temperance on her side. Her most ardent adversary Beau Montrose is always defending criminals but he may have more integrity than Jenny thinks. When they work together they find a spark of attraction neither saw coming. But first they have to solve a murder with only a ghost for a witness and a baddie who will do anything to stop them. This afternoon read is witty and romantic and a mile a minute thrill ride.
Stella’s Star gives us another unique mythology along with an attraction at first sight romance. Even in this short read the characters of Stella and Warner are well defined and draw you into their story. No sexy times here but the chemistry and emotional feelings are there. The supernatural twist is cute not spooky. It is just a fast fun heartfelt read, loved it!
Gigi’s Gift - This fast paced story keeps you riveted to every page. Gigi is strong and independent, a police detective, but she also seems a little inexperienced and innocent. We learn about Rory piecemeal, making him a bit of a mystery most of the book, but definitely a charming rogue. This afternoon read grabs your heart and you head and leaves you with a big smile at the end.
Phoenix’s Phantom - I love the way the author starts with tidbits of someone’s life, jumping from one to another. Then they all merge and you have this complete background from different POVs and the main story comes together as big as life. Phoenix captured my heart right away, she is somewhat innocent, yet passionate about her career as a Broadway actress and her historic theater. Lance loves theater workings as a whole and is more pragmatic. But when they are together they only have eyes for each other. If only a mysterious danger doesn’t end their romance before it begins. Great short read that is bigger than it’s page count.
In Fiona’s Freedom A millionaire forced to marry for an inheritance and an immigrant ballet dancer/teacher with a Visa about to expire, they just met can they pull off a fake marriage. A big baddie, though, is set to ruin their plans. This heartrending suspenseful tale could be serious and depressing but instead is hopeful and lightened greatly by a supernatural helper. Great short read.
This is the third collection of novella that feature a spirit that helps put the main character. Each story was sweet and fun to read as the main characters have some sort of danger to overcome. Love the take on ghosts in this series.
♥ Sabrina's Storm (Romancing the Spirit #13) - I liked this cute and fun story. It made me laugh and sigh but I rooted for Sabrina and Grant to straighten things out between each other. The ghost was fun too. I loved the feel of the story along with the characters.
♥ Jenny's Justice (Romancing the Spirit Book 14) - I thought it was sweet and fun to read and the main characters solve the mystery and get close to each other. Sparks fly and danger is possible but it all ends up the way it should. Beau and Jenny were cute as they had to team up to get the answers they needed. The paranormal twist just added that extra bit to the story.
♥ Stella's Star: a novella (Romancing the Spirit Book 15) - I enjoyed this quick read with a fun Christmas theme. The characters were fun and amusing with a hint of danger and uncertainty. Enjoyed Stella interactions with the Orion family and the setup to Stella figuring out who she is. Just a fun story that was quick to read yet entertaining to keep my attention to the end just to see the ah ha moment.
♥ Gigi's Gift: a novella (Romancing the Spirit Book 16) - Meet Gigi and Rory and their fun story. It was a quick cute read that made me laugh and sigh. There was a bit of mystery and suspense, ghosts, interesting characters and a fun story that kept me reading to see what really was going on. Enjoyed the story and watching Gigi and Rory get close and deal with the ghosts and the mystery.
♥ Phoenix's Phantom: a novella (Romancing the Spirit Book 17) - This story was written in a way that pieces of a puzzle are dribbled out as a mystery needs to be solved while Logan meet up with Phoenix. The story was cute and fun to read. Had to know what was going on and what was really going on and how it all connected Was it really a simple ghost?
♥ Fiona's Freedom: a novella (Romancing the Spirit Book 18) - Mix one millionaire who needs a wife with one teacher with a visa issue and add a dash of the paranormal and you get a clean yet fun story to read. Fiona and Jared made for a cute couple with a bit of a problem. I enjoyed this quick and cute story. Had to see if they would fall in love quickly and how they would win over the bad guy. Just a fun romantic story that made me giggle few times.
Sabrina's Storm - This story is full of sadness, forgiveness, worry, friends, family, deceit, beliefs, attraction, connections, ghosts and the strength to go for what you want. I liked the gentleness of this one, the flow of the story and the actions that are portrayed. I believed in the connection between Grant and Sabrina and could have read about them for longer. - 4 stars.
Jenny's Justice - I really enjoyed this story and wish that it had been longer and had more of Jenny and Beau together, moving on and seeing their relationship grow. I thought this was written well, had good flow and good characters. I loved that we went through discoveries with Jenny and I also loved the strong connection and chemistry between not only her and Beau but between both of them and other characters in the book. This story held my interest from start to finish and I loved all the quotes! 4.5 stars.
Stella's Star - This novella has an interesting concept as well as developed and likeable characters. I did see some things coming but didn't mind as I enjoyed seeing how it would all play out. I liked the hope, support, connection, chemistry, family, belief, trust, honesty and love in this. - 4 stars.
Gigi's Gift - This story has interesting characters who I felt a connection to them and I believed in their connection and chemistry. The story was interesting and held my attention throughout. I enjoyed the humour, compassion, friendships, family, support, acceptance, understanding, gestures of love and the flow of the story. - 4 stars.
Phoenix's Phantom - I enjoyed this story because of the setting, the history, the links to musicals, past characters, second chances, family, connections and the love that shines throughout. The story flowed well and held my interest, I liked the character development and the hope the story portrayed. - 4 stars.
Fiona's Freedom - The characters in this felt real and developed, they were likeable and had good connection and chemistry. I liked the interesting family situation, the twists and the ease that the two families had together - I loved games night. The story flowed well and held my interest. - 4 stars.

*** Reviewing “GIGI'S GIFT (#16)” *** Gigi and Rory's Story . . .
Financial Crimes Detective Gigi Montgomery is able to see ghosts and it has frightened her for her entire life. But when her best friend Lexi’s ghost appears, Gigi can’t just walk away. She needs to find out who severely injured her friend when she “fell” down the stairs at the museum. Lexi was currently on life support.
Rory Dunnigan is an Irish antiquities dealer and philanthropist. He offered to go to the museum with her when she told him she wasn’t sure it was an “accident”. He was temporarily working there on the Irish display and would have access to the museum to help her. He had not confided in her that he could also see and communicate with ghosts, using his abilities and the help of one of his ancestors to track down stolen Irish treasures. He also could see and talk to Lexi’s ghost, who promptly told him not to keep that secret from Gigi.
While at first they don't reveal to each other that they can see spirits, they learn to trust each other and the truth comes out. Will Lexi’s condition improve so she can come off the machines? Will they identify whoever hurt her and why? Grab your copy and find the answers! Then continue on with the other books for your entertainment.
Sabrina’s storm was a lovely story. I became invested in Sabrina’s character very quickly. And found the paranormal aspect quite sweet. I know it was a short story, but I would have been just as happy to continue reading about what happens next in their lives because I didn’t want it to end. I loved meeting Jenny in Jenny’s Justice as I had previously read about her sister Phoenix. I enjoyed reading her view of Beau change as we learnt more about him. It felt so genuine, as did their relationship. Sabrina’s star was a sweet romance and Gigi’s Gift had a nice little note of suspense. The final two stories were also well put together with likeable characters that quickly draw you into their world. Overall these were a lovely collection of stories that I would reccommend to anyone who wants a moment of feeling warm and fuzzy inside. Samet has once again proven her talent with quick character development that engages the reader straight away, catchy plot lines that move at just the right pace and a feel good ending. A beautiful collection. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book from the author. All opinions in this review are my own and freely given.

Ghosts seem to be the theme of these six spellbinding stories. Each storyline has a touch of paranormal suspense and other worldly situations. The characters are strong and determined. The storylines have all the feels as drama, surprises, tension and romance jump off the pages. Great flow as the stories unfold with a touch of danger to get past. Wonderful endings.

I'm not sure this could be called a series in the normal sense of connecting characters or story line other than there are ghosts involved in all of them. I really like romances to take a break from fantasy, horror or sometimes just for the light break. These stories are sweet and charming. I didn't love them but I definitely didn't hate them. They're a good collection of short stories that will give you a small dose of Romance.

This set of romances were intensely wonderful. It was an amazing set. I cannot express just how much I loved these. What very intense set of stories that will have you hooked from the very beginning of this collection. This is a must read!!
Great set of novellas. I particularly enjoyed the ones where a ghost was able to manifest itself to help the main character in some way (no spoiler here), and that two of the nevellas have sisters as primary characters. Fun and captivating reading!
I loved every one of the six novellas. They were great standalone stories. I loved how the paranormal entity always saved the day. Definitely recommend!
