Dusk to Dawn

Rate this book
Surviving isn't living . . . Amelia left behind everything she knew, her pack, her home, and her mate. It's been seventeen years since she ran away with her daughter Emery. Now a teenager, Emery has grown to become a strong, beautiful wolf, but has she raised her well enough to survive on her own? Amelia is tired. Her wolf, Rey, has almost completely faded away, leaving them weak and vulnerable. The mate bond is nearly gone and the trauma from her kidnapping haunts her daily. The Rogues have found them again and Amelia doesn't know how much longer she has left. They're coming. It's time for them to run again, but this time they're running home.

This was everything I wanted from this sequel!

I was kind of scared to pick up the second book, mainly because of the huge time gap between where the first week ends and where this one starts. It’s not something I’ve seen often in the urban fantasy genre, but this was done really really well. I am a character driven reader so when we have such a time gap I’m always scared that my favourite characters are no longer the main focus or have changed so much that they’re not the characters I remember. This book follows the central characters from the first book, just 17 years later. A lot has gone on in that period of time and new characters are introduced, but our main characters have stayed the same couple from the first book which I love.

I flew through this book so much faster than I was thought I would. I love getting back to these characters. Their struggles are so much more intense, dealing with the aftermath of the first book, the separation in the last 17 years and confronting their emotions of facing each other again - it’s an emotional rollercoaster for them and the reader! I also enjoyed the mystery of what happened in those 17 years (because that isn’t immediately evident what transpired in that time period) you get to see that slowly revealed as Amelia begins to trust people around her. Loved seeing the growth in these characters, fabulous sequel!

Too much loss

A little too much loss to enjoy. The book is full of loss, has not enough balance. Most do not pick up a book to be overwhelmed with sadness.
