This book really puts the history in historical fiction. The author stays as close as possible to actual historical events and figures, while describing the characters and events in enough detail to tell a compelling story that really makes you feel like you are there in the midst of the battle of Gettysburg. I also liked the information at the end about the real life figures and what happened to each of them.

Great novel on a New Jersey infantry regiment

This is a great page turner, which captures the authors' devotion to history and special dedication to a NJ regiment. I especially liked the bios of the real people as we follow them in one chapter in the life of this unit, as well as the maps and photos. Terrific job, I enjoyed it.
