Rimbault played the organ at the St. Peter’s, Vere Street; St. John’s Wood Presbyterian Church; and the Swiss Church in Soho, London. He helped found the Musical Antiquarian Society in 1840, and composed operettas and popular and religious music. He once received—and declined—a position as professor of music at Harvard College. Edward Francis Rimbault (1816 - 1876), English organist and author. Some of his historical musical anthologies were published by the Percy Society.
Co-founded the Musical Antiquarian Society in 1840. Composed new tune for Philip Doddridge's O Happy Day, That Fixed My Choice and added the refrain (1854). Co-authored The Organ: Its History and Construction (1855). Authored Early English Organ Builders and Their Works (1865).
