John "The Stranger" Brockman is back by popular demand!
It will take more than his fists and a colt .45 to beat these killers.
At twenty-one, Paul Brockman is the newest deputy U.S. marshal in his father's arsenal of lawmen. Bold and courageous, Paul proves to be every bit as skillful with a revolver as the chief U.S. marshal, John "The Stranger" Brockman.
Five ruthless outlaws escape Yuma Prison but are soon captured, and Paul must transport them back to Arizona in an iron wagon. During the hazardous journey, Paul encounters Lisa Martin, whose parents were murdered by renegade Indians. The lovely young woman desperately needs his help and Paul is just the deputy to deliver Lisa to her destination. Could she be the answer to his prayers for a wife?
But when the wagon comes under attack from Apaches, Paul is forced to think beyond his physical strength to get everyone out alive.
Al Lacy has written more than ninety novels, including the Angel of Mercy, Battles of Destiny, and Journeys of the Stranger series. He and his wife, JoAnna Lacy, are coauthors of the Mail Order Bride, Hannah of Fort Bridger, and Shadow of Liberty series. The Lacys make their home in the Colorado Rockies.
I tried for almost 50 pages and couldn’t. The writing style was too… I’m unsure how to even explain. I’d rather read something else and let this one go to someone who will enjoy it more.
Great read. I read the Journeys of the Stranger and Angel of Mercy Series as they came out years ago, and just re-read them. I didn't know this series existed, and really enjoyed it
I didn't like the book. The main character was always telling some fool that if he pulled his gun he was going straight to hell because he was going to die. If that had only happened once it would have been bad enough, but to repeat it over and over was to much. Everybody was riding stallions, if you know anything about horses, you know most cowboys rode geldings, or mares. And in the book there are several mentions of "parking lots" (?) for the horses not corals or hitching posts/rails. I read lots of love Inspired religious fiction, but this book was so over the top and so preachy that it was unreal, and the main character kills multiple people. The first guy he shots in the back!! I find the book offensive on so many levels. This was an ARC book , and you could not pay me to keep it.
This was a little out of my comfort zone on reading. I don't usually read western books. But I needed a book that the setting started with Y for one of my reading challenges. So here I am giving my report on this book. Although the book was good, I didn't really enjoy reading it. If you like western books it's a pretty good book. It's all about this family of law men set in the late 1800's. They have to transport a prisoner to Yuma Prison. They have a hard time getting there, but they do finally get the prisoner there.
This is the third time I have typed a review. I don't know why the computer doesn't save it. This book was a bit disappointing to me. I felt like it was either written in a hurry or by a beginner. It did presnet the plan of salvation very plainly. I learned about the iron wagon which was invented to transport prisoners safely in those days. I have another book by the Lacy's that I will read - I am not completely turned off.
