Dirty Diana
At sixteen, I felt I would always be a misfit. Popularity had eluded me, and I was pretty much a loner by choice. My world existed on the internet; gaming, and chat rooms were my escape, because there, my anonymity was my shield. Known by my handle, D-10, I fit in with the others, and met some phenomenal virtual friends. One special friend in fact was Dastardly Damned. We clicked. We gamed online, and finally we made plans to meet at a local hangout. Only I never saw his face.
I never saw what was coming.

Diana isn't like the rest of her classmates, but then she never wanted to be. Her brother is the one who gets the glory, and she's content to have a community of friends that she's never met. Her not-so-secret joy is gaming and, online, she found a friend who shares her love of gaming and goes by the name of Dastardly Damned. There's a Halloween Party coming up and they plan to meet for the first time but, before that can happen, she's kidnapped and left for dead. Once she comes out of her coma, she has no recollection of the incident and she's not at all compliant with the therapist who is trying to help her heal. Diana is going to heal her way and has hatched a plan of revenge that backfires and almost costs her the best friend she's ever had. Julian and Diana have been drawn together in the classes they share in school, and he tries to talk her out of doing something so risky. Danger is still lurking around, waiting to finish the job, and what a surprise it is! It's a superb conclusion and Julian and Diana get their happy ending. And, yes, it's true that karma is a bitch!

Holy moly! What a story. A story full of surprises and suspense. Heartbreaking. Crude. Vengeful. I was hooked. Of course the fact that Andrea Smith wrote, paired with Alexander Cendese narrating, all made for a truly entertaining read. Not a story for the faint hearted. Diana was raped at the age of 15, and the story follows Diana as she comes to terms with her situation, and as she drifts away from her family and forms new friendships. Unwilling to become a victim again, she swears revenge, and is set on finding her attacker. The question is, will her attacker find her first? Her life choices aren’t the best, and it broke my heart that she degraded herself, I was happy she had at least one person she could rely on. Alexander Cendese always puts in 100% whilst performing, and he really brings this story to life. He’s fun, he’s emotional, and he can perfectly narrate each and every character in a story. I love his voice.

WOW! That’s all I should say about the latest from Andrea Smith, but of course I will say more!
I always love the way Ms. Smith writes, but this one really caught me by surprise. I can honestly say this is her best book yet… at least in my opinion! It was so raw and emotional; I felt like I was truly a part of the story. The h is incredibly dramatic, but easy to relate to-I was looking around each corner for her HEA. Does she actually get it at the end of this suspenseful book? You have to read it to believe it! So amazingly good!!!

Wowzer! This story packs a punch! I absolutely loved it! It has mystery, drama and thriller in the bag! Even though this is a shorter story don’t let that deter you. The writing is smooth, straight to the point and has a nice flow. The characters are plentiful and all add to the puzzle of Diana.
I did listen to this on audio and Alexander Cendese is the narrator. He does an outstanding job doing all the different voices (both male and female). It is always a pleasure to listen to him.
Plus That cover is so darn attractive! I love it! I can see Diana in her!

I enjoyed this book by Andrea Smith. It's the first I have read from this author and was not quite what I expected. There was a lot of emotion throughout and the subject matter a challenging one. Smith handled it well.
This was a fairly quick paced story with several characters interspersed. While I did figure out who had changed Diana's whole world fairly quickly, the narrative kept me interested until our main heroine figured it out. The heart-pounding ending will have you reading until the very last page.

Great Story!
This story had me from the beginning. It was written in a way that was full of suspense and drama. The main character, while appearing strong on the outside was broken on the inside. I was a little confused on exactly how she ended up in a halfway house rather than a mental care facility but other than that this story was intriguing and only got better.
The narration was absolutely fantastic. Alexander Cendese is a wonderful performer and I always enjoy his work.
This book is a standalone with an HEA.

Andrea Smith has the ability to drag you into a story as if you’re part of it. Dirty Diana is no exception. It’s an intense, suspenseful story and it captivated me from the first minute to the last. I felt for Diana and what she had to endure. But what an ending. I loved it!
This review is based on the audiobook and the narrator, Alexander Cendese, did a great job giving a voice to the various characters. He really brought the story to life. I just couldn’t stop listening!

Terrific Story & Narration🎧 Engrossing & Intense!
Dirty Diana
By: Andrea Smith
Narrated by: Alexander Cendese
Wow, this story grabbed my attention right from the start and captivated it straight to the end. It is a well written and fast-paced story that is original and thought provoking. The characters are realistic, easy to relate to and connect with. Diana Webster, a 10th grade loner, almost 16 years old, knew she would never be popular in school like her older brother, which she was ok with. She found her escape online in a gaming room where she played and chatted with other gamers. That was where she met Dastardly Dan and they quickly became friends and agreed to meet each other at the Game Cave’s Halloween party. They never exchanged real names with each other but would when they meet in person, which she was looking forward to. But that night turned out to be her nightmare, a nightmare she survived but forever changed her life and not in a good way. Her life spiraled out of control after that and two years later she went on a mission to get revenge and her life back. She is sure her plan will draw out Dastardly Dan, who was never identified or captured, except her plan does not go off without a hitch and backfires in her face. Thank goodness for the friend she met at the halfway house, Julian, who she opened up to and became tight with, and they both wind up freeing each other of their inner (and outer) demons. This is novella sized book packs a lot of punch, powerful ones, it is a cleverly plotted story with plenty of drama, angst, mystery, thrilling suspense, heartfelt emotions, and even a little romance.
🎧📚🎧 And for the fabulous narration, Andrea Smith cast the perfect narrator to bring her characters and their story to life. Alexander Cendese is a wonderfully talented narrator and a versatile voice artist, he did a great job covering both he male and female roles. He had a complete understanding of the characters he portrays, giving each a voice that suited that character’s persona and was believable in every role he played, including Diana. He set the perfect tone for the story, captures all the characters’ emotions and projects them into his performance and had you feeling every single one. Cendese is an entertaining storyteller and a pleasure to listen to, his narration enhances an already great story to another level. Thank you for another great listen.

A riveting book about how one night changed Diana's life forever. Andrea Smith brings out the dangers of the chat room for online gaming . Diana arranged to meet her chatroom friend at a public event, but was that person really her friend?
Andrea Smith stories are very well written, with an unexpected twist. this story is emotional, dark, and intense.

Amazing
I'm not sure where to start with this review. It's not what I was expecting, but it was such a great book. The amount of emotions that come from reading this may overwhelm you at times, but it is worth it. I have enjoyed Andrea's work for years and I have to say this is her best work.

Dirty Diana
By: Andrea Smith
Narrated by: Alexander Cendese
This may be short, but it certainly packs a punch! Andrea Smith writes a psychological thriller that is relevant and exciting. Diana is a loner, finding her social life online as a gamer. She befriends a fellow gamer and they decide to meet. Little does she know it will change her life. Now two years later, Diana is still recovering, and now is seeking her revenge. Drawing out her attacker is sure to give her the piece of mind she is looking for. But is she on point with her targets? This is a story is that is so raw, and so real it's scary. Smith writes with a spec of romance, but a whole lot of pain, angst, mystery and a twist we don't see coming. I love everything about this one and could not have enjoyed it more.
Alexander Cendese is a narrator who understands Andrea Smith and her stories. He grabs hold of this emotionally driven story and creates characters that we can understand and relate too and then draw us into the monster we meet. He is fantastic and made this listen incredible.

D-10 Bests Dastardly Damned
I may have figured it out before Diana, but holy macaroni! That was a very intense and insane rollercoaster that Andrea Smith created. It is dark and gut-wrenching with plenty of triggers to be mindful of, but it is also strangely liberating. I liked the story, but I'm thankful that it was a shorter book and that everything moved along quickly.
I received an author's copy of the audio book. The narrator is Alexander Cendese. I like Alexander's male voices, not as much on the female. I'll still return for more of his narrations.

This is such a good story and one I wasn't expecting. Diana is a survivor of a horrific assault. Instead of being seen as a victim, she decides to get revenge. She definitely goes about it the wrong way. However, it truly brings to light the devastating effects that assaults have on the victims and the negative ways they could potentially deal with it. Diana slashes out and pushes away the help she needs until someone finally breaks through to her. It's then that she realizes she has to deal with it on an emotional level and stop her self destructive behaviors. Unfortunately, she will have to fight one last time when she comes face to face with her assailant. She may not have been prepared, but this time, she's much stronger and determined to survive again.
Excellent job by the narrative as well. At first I thought he was reading too fast, but as the story progressed I could truly see it as Diana's personality, full of anxiety, nervousness, and energy. It made listening very interesting. He distinguished between the characters very well. Good listen!

Dirty Diana
Suspenseful who done it!
I love reading Andrea Smith’s books and she did good with this one.
Diana is in high school and she is into gaming online. She meets a character and they hit it off! At a Halloween event for gamers she goes there to meet him. Next thing you know she is coming out of a coma with no memory of that brutal night.
She is in a halfway house for her and she meets Julian. He likes her and wants to help her. But Diana is out for revenge, even if she doesn’t know who tried to kill her.
Omg this is such a suspenseful storyline and everyone is a suspect for Diana!
I definitely enjoyed reading this book and highly recommend it!

I loved Dirty Diana!!! Andrea Smith gave suspense, mystery and teenage drama. My attention was grabbed in the prologue and kept till the end, even with me figuring out who the culprit was right off the bat. The ending kept me on the edge of my seat turning the pages. Dirty Diana is a fast paced short book. I found Diana interesting in how she handles what happened to her. In my opinion Andrea Smith didn't disappoint.

If you are wanting to listen to a book that is going to keep you on the edge of your seat and guessing then you are going to want to listen to Dirty Diana right away. If you have read or listened to a Andrea Smith book then you might be a little surprised to find out that this book is going to get a little dark. I was loving every second of seeing this new side of Andrea Smith too!!! This is the story of Diana who is not anything like the rest of her classmates at all. Her brother he can have all the glory and popularity that he has and just keep it all away from her. She is really happy behind her computer and has really mad a little community of friends that she really has connected to but she has never met a single one of them in person. She really loves gaming and everyone knows it. It's not a huge secret or anything and she has really connected with a guy who goes by Dastardly Damned. As much time as they spend gaming together and with a huge Halloween party coming up it is the perfect time for them to meet. However before that can actual happen and on her way something horrible happens and her life is changed forever!!! Revenge for Diana is her way of healing. Never mind the therapist who is helping her heal. But is that really such a good idea and is she in much deeper than she realizes and is putting herself in more danger than she was already in. You have to listen to find out but I am telling you now once you start you are not going to want to take your earbuds out of your ears. I was so on edge while listening to this book that I almost jumped off the couch when my daughter came home from work and I didn't hear her I was so into this book. Talk about a double whammy!!! You guys need this book in your life. Don't even hesitate. Get it and try not to give yourself heart failure like happened to me!! This is such a great listen and is for sure one of my top favorite Andrea Smith books of all time.

Andrea Smith's book, "Dirty Diana: A Psychological Thriller," was a visceral read. What the book lacks in size, it makes up in content.
If you want a book that you are thinking the whole time, then this one isn't for you. Smith's book is emotional. You will care what happens to Diana and look forward to what happens to her attacker.
Diana didn't quite fit in. She turned to the internet to make friends and play games. It always seems harmless when you want to meet those you befriended during online gaming sessions, but things never go as planned. What happens to Diana has probably happened to scores of women and men. It is an intense read. It is also a cautionary tale about trusting those you meet online and don't know in real life.
As usual, Smith writes in a way that makes you care about the characters. You feel like the author experienced this herself because of how intimate the details are of the character. Brilliant story.
I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves mysteries, fulfilled revenge, horror, or even tales of misfits who come out on top. People who game online and make friends in chatrooms could read this and take heed when meeting others online.

I did it! I wrote a NA Suspense with more darkness than romance. I needed to prove that I could, because you know me - not a one-trick pony! I reserved my review waiting upon those who reviewed after the release, and I was so humbled by several comments saying it was my "best work."
After self-publishing for 10 years, and having writer's block over the past couple of years - those words meant so damn much to me!

This audiobook was intense. The story and the characters kept my attention from the beginning until the end. There was some mature content and some foul language found within the pages. Alexander Cendese's narration was superb, and his performance enhanced this thrilling tale. I was given a free copy of the audiobook, and I have voluntarily posted this review.

Youth, they say, is a weapon…but only if you know how to use it. But at age 16, Diana is still searching. Though it may seem a deterrent, the same trait will see her through the difficult time. I like her perseverance and her mettle. Though the digital gaming world is alien to me, the story is understandable. I like it.

This book is so deep. With an emotional storyline these characters show so much resilience. A true survivor that faces her fears with strength and courage. A well written masterpiece. A great, heartfelt performance from Alexander.

This is a fast paced intense read. Diana's character was well developed and her intense trauma and aftermath gripped me... until the heat racing end. Thought provoking and fierce storyline.
